She completed her residency in General Surgery at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN were she went on to complete a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Bales is board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery. A dedicated educator and leader, Dr. Bales specializes in the mentorship of medical students and residents. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery, Assistant Medical Student Clerkship Director, and Director of Trauma Outreach at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Read her publications. She is an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society Member and has been awarded with Distinguished Scholar Award for Medical Students. She is a member of American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, Association of Surgical Education, and The Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.
