Care Philosophy: Dr Fontaine received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed his general surgery residency at Boston University. In 2006, he graduated as chief resident in thoracic surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital - Harvard Medical School. Dr Fontaine began his thoracic surgery practice at University of Montreal but was then recruited to become part of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Brown Medical School in Providence, RI. He was in charge of developing a thoracic surgery program at one of Brown University's teaching hospitals. In 2011, Dr Fontaine joined Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL - the 3rd largest cancer center in the United States.

After graduating, she completed her internship at NOVA Southeastern University in Largo, her general residency at West Virginia University, Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, and her cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She also completed a year-long advanced fellowship in Advanced Thoracic Oncology and Robotics at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. She was one of the first surgeons in the U.S. to offer laparo-endoscopic single site (LESS) surgery and continues to be a thought leader in developing new and improved minimally invasive procedures. She is co-director of the Advanced GI and HBP Surgery Fellowship at the Digestive Health Institute, which trains new surgeons to master minimally invasive complex surgery.
