Biography: JoAnn Difede, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychologyin Psychiatry at Weill Medicine, an Attending Psychologist at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, and Director of the Program for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Studies (PATSS). She is internationally recognized for her pioneering work using virtual reality technology in the treatment of PTSD consequent to the WTC attack of September 11, 2001, and more recently in the treatment of combat-related PTSD. Dr. JoAnn Difede is currently serving as the lead PI of a large multi-site Department of Defense funded clinical trial contract entitled, "Enhancing Exposure Therapy for PTSD: Virtual Reality and Imaginal Exposure with a Cognitive Enhancer," which is investigating how the use of virtual reality and the pharmacologic agent, D-Cycloserine, may help accelerate recovery from combat-related PTSD among U.S. service members deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Difede has served as the PI of several NIH-funded treatment studies concerning the development of innovative treatments for PTSD. She is also the recipient of many grants and corporate medical contracts for projects concerning the delivery of optimal care for trauma survivors and their families, both from private foundations and publicly held Fortune 500 corporations. Her treatment research spans survivors of burn injuries, terrorism, and occupations at-risk for PTSD, including U.S. soldiers deployed to OIF/OEF/OND, firefighters, police officers, and disaster rescue and recovery workers.Dr. Difede has advised many corporations, non-profit organizations, and governmental agencies in the U.S. and internationally regarding the implementation of best practices for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of trauma and PTSD. Dr. Difede has served on NIH special emphasis review panels on occupations at-risk for trauma and PTSD and CDMRP review panels, among others. She currently serves on the scientific advisory board of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) and the advisory board of the Jericho Project, a non-profit foundation serving homeless veterans. She recently completed a four-year term on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Traumatic Stress.Dr. Difede received the 2010 Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Practice of Trauma Psychology from the American Psychological Association's Division of Trauma. Biography: Dr. Boas attended the University of Michigan where he studied psychology and completed his B.S. with honors and high distinction. He received his M.D from Weill Cornell Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and awarded the Diethelm Prize for excellence in psychiatry. Dr. Boas then went on to his internship and residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital Adult Psychiatry Residency Program where he served as the McLean Hospital Chief Resident. At MGH/McLean, he completed the Clinician Educator Program as well as the Program in Psychodynamics. He completed a Medical-Scientist Training Program at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (then UMDNJ), where his research focused on the blood-brain barrier and vascular implications of neurodegenerative diseases in pre-clinical models. He completed his psychiatry residency training at University of Maryland / Sheppard Pratt as part of the Physician-Scientist Training Program, where he bridged clinical neuroscience research in MRI and vascular imaging modalities to study the blood-brain barrier in psychiatric conditions. Biography: Dr. Soudabeh Givrad is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. She did her adult psychiatry residency training at Yale University, and then completed her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Columbia and Cornell Universities.She has expertise in treating psychiatric disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period, and works with families of infants and young children inparent-infant psychotherapy when families face issues with attachment, bonding, medical traumas, or other regulatory disorders of infancy and early childhood. In psychotherapy, Dr. Givrad primarily has a psychodynamic approach, however, she draws on her knowledge of other modalities of psychotherapy such as CBT, DBT, and IPT. She is currently a co-investigator and a primary therapist for a Department of Defense-funded clinical trial for the treatment of PTSD in OIF/OEF veterans. She has travelled nationwide to train providers in virtual reality exposure therapy for PTSD and consulted to Army and Air Force providers as part of a Department of Defense initiative to train clinicians in evidence-based treatments. Dr. Cukor provides stress management workshops to the National Guard and serves as a consultant to an ongoing military treatment study.She is currently the principal investigator of a study funded by the New York Community Trust to assess the behavioral and neuroanatomical manifestations of extinction learning in returning OIF/OEF veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and her research interests include furthering our understanding of the interplay between PTSD and TBI.Dr. Cukor is a consultant to the William Randolph Hearst Burn Center, treating inpatients and ambulatory patients in the aftermath of traumatic burn injury. Her research with burn survivors includes the development of a protocol to address the numerous psychiatric sequelae that arise in the aftermath of a burn or other traumatic injury.She also trains and supervises psychology interns, post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty working with trauma populations. She has authored scientific articles and book chapters, and presented her work at conferences and grand rounds. Dr. Cukor has made numerous media appearances discussing treatments for PTSD, virtual reality, 9/11, veteran mental health, and common reactions to trauma.Dr. Cukor also works with individuals coping with medical illness, depression, panic attacks and generalized anxiety.

She received her doctoral degree from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University.
