Caring and very smart
I have been seeing Dr Weinstein for well over a decade. I have always found her to be caring, concerned, empathetic and very very smart. I don’t know what I would’ve done without her during previous hard times. She’s been a lifesaver. Bear in mind that most people who write reviews are compelled to do so because they were unhappy with something. I wish those who are happy with their treatment would also write more reviews. Those reviews would far outweigh the bad ones. She is a gem, and one of the best doctors I have ever had.

Can't be Trusted
I was a patient here for about 7 or 8 years. The office staff never answers the phone, so you have to leave a voicemail, and you're never sure if anyone is actually listening to your message. There's no way to contact the doctor directly. I recently discovered that I qualify for accomodations at my school for general anxiety disorder, which I've struggled with since I was 20 (half my life so far). It has severely impacted my performance on interviews and countless other situations. So I sent her the school's form to fill out, not expecting this to be an issue at all. Her office called me and said she would not be filling out the form because "she doesn't do forms for anxiety." My primary doctor and the counselor from my school suggested reaching out to her again, so I and left a voicemail, not really knowing what to say, though. Then I started looking for a new doctor. I later received a letter saying she terminated me because I was unhappy with how her office is run.

Most strangers on the street would have had more empathy for my mental health than Wendy Weinstein. Everything about her clinic is rude and uncaring, culture and staff, everything. I wish I had never met her.

Completely lacking of compassion or empathy. Seems very nice and pleasant and intelligent as a first impression, but that quickly fades. She would frequently take phone calls during our 15 minute appointments, at times admitting to me that they were just about some dinner plans, but would kick me out promptly at the end of 15 minutes anyway. Shocked by the lack of compassion from someone who supposedly cares about mental health.

Please read
While a patient she had me on a fixed regiment of medication that had gone unchanged, which I liked. The moment she had someone shadowing her (sitting in on our session) she tried to alter my meds as if to show how to do it. I am not a prop in a classroom, I am a person who spent years trying to get onto the right medication. After this session I missed my following one and she dismissed me after 4-5 years.

After reading other reviews of her on here, it is clear there is a pattern in how Dr. Weinstein poorly runs her office and dismisses her clients. After going to her for almost 4 years, I was just terminated from her practice, simply because I voiced that her secretary was rude to me over the phone. It is very clear that she has absolutely no concern for her clients' well-being. Her appointments are a complete waste of time. They are often only 5 minutes long, and she wants you in and out as quick as possible. She doesn't care what you are going through in your personal life whatsoever, and will scold you about not being able to make an appointment due to personal matters. I would absolutely not recommend going to her practice.

I was a patient of Dr Weinstein's for over 10 years until I moved from Buffalo in 2019. She came highly recommended and I highly recommend her. She was truly the best psychiatrist, and advisor I've ever had. She saved my life and if it had not been for her and my husband both working together to get me to accept my diagnosis and receive treatment I would have probably ended up broke, divorced and homeless or worse. She is extremely experienced, intelligent, and caring. She always returned my calls but I was diligent in my treatment, took my meds only as prescribed by her, and followed her instructions at all times.

I saw this doctor for many years and she had me on, what my other doctors told me was the biggest amount of psych meds they've ever seen a patient on (for about 10 years). She terminated me over a same day cancellation with no warning and I was beyond devastated but it was the biggest blessing in disguise. A year later I had very gradually become sicker than you could imagine and was sure my heart was failing. I was in the ER all the time and finally my PCP just said that they think that I had acute serotonin syndrome and had signs of it for many years. Long story short, I have dumped all but one of the meds and have a new lease on life. Physically I have come such a long way, have gotten rid of so many horrible symptoms, and mentally I am better than I have been in years. I can actually comprehend what I read again and FEEL things again. I have a much lower stress lifestyle and didn't need any of that junk she had me on that was basically making me physically and mentally ill.

I was involuntary committed. She was the psychologist who had control of my release. So in the 6 days, I saw her for 11 minutes. Upon discharge, she had me on the max amount of the medication. 300mg. Gave me a script for 50mg. That lasted 2 weeks. My followup for a doctor was 8 weeks. I went through withdrawal. Calls to the office were not answered or messages returned Today I get a letter from collections. For an account I received 1 bill for 2 years prior. That I was on a payment plan for that I had not missed a payment.

At first, things seemed okay. My first appointment was about twenty minutes long. I started getting concerned when subsequent appointments were five minutes or even less. I was prescribed a controlled substance that it is scarily easy to become addicted to. When I expressed concern regarding taking it as frequently as Dr. Weinstein advised, she told me it was no big deal, and that becoming dependent on a medication isn't possible when used as prescribed (unfortunately untrue). She would not prescribe medications with lower risk. She is dismissive and wants you in and out. Changing someone's psychotropic medication after speaking with them for 3 minutes just doesn't seem ethical to me. Thankfully, I am no longer seeing her and am on safer medications.

i would never recommend Dr. Wendy Weinstein. as someone who has been struggling with mental health i had to wait for about 6 months for this one appointment . when i arrived we prob met for about 5 mins before she said that she didn't want to help me. she went on saying "i have so many patients and i don't have to help you and asked if i leave" and left the conference room. she is very picky and chooses who she wants to see, or help for that matter. Dr. Wendy Weinstein is not worth making an appointment to see. All the paperwork that you have to fill out but she doesn't read the paperwork for her patient as she ask me a few question from the form that i sent into her. nonetheless she made me feel helpless then when i came there this afternoon 9/15/2020. i'm sad to write this i just wanna be happy again and she made me feel so awful about myself not hearing what i had to say. i can't believe they let people like her (D.r Wendy Weinstein) help people with mental health.

I would never recommend anyone to see this doctor. While I was going through the most difficult time in my life, I asked the receptionist to ask the doctor to increase my prescription. Dr. Weinstein never called to talk to me about why I needed my prescription increased and a few days later I got a letter in the mail saying I was DROPPED as a client?? It is clear she does not care about her patients in the slightest bit, who drops a client going through the most difficult time? Before this, it was clear she does not care about her patients. I would have to have an appointment every few months so she could refill my prescriptions. My appointments would literally last two minutes just so they could document I was there and get there money for the visit. Awful personality, it is clear she does not care.

Sociology 101: everyone can’t be wrong. The descriptions of others matches my experience. There are other doctors who spend time with you, who do not condescend, who listen, and who genuinely care about people. When you've experienced that, you’ll see you have choices. UBMD Psychiatry and Williamsville Psychiatry are two great alternatives. (And they are not reaching for their pill cabinet for what the pharmaceutical rep left off last week.)

Very short appts, was initially dismissed over a missed appt fee, had to wait two weeks for an emergency appt, suddenly wanted me to go to a different Dr for a 2nd option and wouldn't change any meds, ignored specifics we had discussed in previous appts, didn't test my lithium levels for a year. I showed up early and she took me and saw 2 women after me all in my appt time and the end of the previous. Definitely witnessed 'free lunches' occuring. Never gave the option of an appt sooner than 3 months, (once was a month when I was doing bad and insisting to come back) starting charging $10 copay when my insurance states $0 copay... Was finally dismissed from care well in CPEP last summer, unfortunately she is the only private practice psych my insurance covers, I dislike the clinical atmosphere of many other mental health factories (I did like the building she was in and an ideal location for my residence) surprising she is still in practice, but I had had Drs just as bad in other ways.

She was the most incompetent, uncaring doctor I have ever met. She terminated me for getting more depressed and said I must not be taking the medication. I was. Then since she terminated me with no scripts, I went through withdrawal. She will make you worse

Hello, I have been reading all of these reviews and not many are different than any other Dr for the most part. As far as Adderall, did she recommend it?Im guessing she did after your comment stated that you shouldn’t have had it! I am in desperate need of an adult ADHD evaluation and because of the field I work in, I know what medication will work and what will not. Is it appropriate, with her specifically to “inquire” about the needed medication? Thank you in advance

I went to dr Weinstein since February and missed ONE appointment since that time. I read all the bad reviews on her and still decided hey let me give her a shot(red flag number one) Every since I’ve been there my appointments have been less than 5 mins but changing my medication every time and not completely following up with me regarding the change(red flag number 2) since the medication changes I became suicidal and she sent me to cpep by ambulance where I was inpatient for 5 days. During that

Today was a new low in Mental Health service. I suffered through an entire month without Xanax (which I have been on for over 8 years) because Dr. Weinstein would not previously prescribe due to a missed appointment. When I arrived today, Dr. Weinstein informed me that she would no longer prescribe me Xanax at all unless I joined a 12-step group. I only drink with dinners out, and only 2 drinks maximum. Ridiculous, frivolous, whimsical, inconsistent provider. STAY AWAY

Very kind, understanding, and takes a nuanced approach to psyciatric medicine. I’ve been working with Dr. Weinstein for over 6 years, off and on, and she has been the most helpful to me of any doctor I’ve seen. Would recommend without hesitation!
