Dr. Walter Lin, MD

This is an updated re-post. It has been three years since my work-related hand-wrist injury and I have been very grateful for having MD Lin as my hand specialist. The whole time struggling with my pain, impaired hand function, and, or course, workers comp, MD Lin has been so supportive. He listens to me and provides his expertise. He is open to all the options for relieving the pain even though I am not even a surgery candidate. He is also honest about everything. I feel the trust and surely all these help with my acceptance of the medical condition and the following recovery. As a nurse, many of my coworkers got injuries at work. With workers comp, I have heard lots of bad experiences. However, MD Lin goes above and beyond. He makes the difference. This difference guides me through that difficult time. For some reason, my previous post seems missing. Therefore I decide to do a re-post to show my appreciation toward MD Lin. Thank you.

There are other surgeons who are more sought-after for ftm top surgery than Dr. Lin and that is unfortunate. He is an excellent choice for any type of gender affirming surgery and I cannot recommend him enough. He's a talented surgeon and the most compassionate doctor I've ever met. His emotional intelligence & listening skills are extraordinary. It will be hard to go to any other surgeon now having been under his care. His techniques and knowledge are top-notch & always up-to-date. The Buncke Clinic & Dr Lin have developed novel techniques to limit nerve damage and retain feeling for this surgery, which I am particularly grateful for. I had feeling a few months after my surgery and a year later I have 80% of feeling back. My appointments were never rushed and he answered all my questions with full attention on our conversation. Dr. Lin's schedule is also more open than others in the field so he's a great choice if you don't want to wait a year for your surgery!

Dr Lin is an artist. He took care of my problem with lymphedema with professional acumen. He explained to me what the procedure would entail. His team took amazing care of me and I would highly recommend him for any microsurgery! Mahalo Dr Lim and your team!

I’m so grateful to have found Dr. Lin as he was outstanding in repairing my hand when it got infected. He is thorough, highly skilled, and very kind.

Dr. Lin has tremendous expertise and bedside manner! I had a lymphatic venous bypass reconstruction, and all procedures with according to plan. I immediately started feeling better and noticed reduction and swelling that I had not seen in 15 months. I would give Dr Walter Lin the highest possible recommendation both as a brilliant and compassionate surgeon and particularly for his beautiful plastics work on breasts. I have been dealing with breast cancer for the past year and have had 3 surgeries with Dr Lin. The first was a lumpectomy which had great results cosmetically, but unfortunately did not get clean margins, so it was followed by a mastectomy with expander in December and finally reconstruction in July. The results are nothing short of spectacular, only 2 weeks post surgery. I believe no one will be able to tell that one of my breasts has been completely replaced. Importantly, Dr Lin also reattached my lymph channels after having my underarm lymph nodes removed (no lymphedema!) In addition, Walter has been incredibly kind and accessible and has worked with me to help me get back to activity as quickly as possible. If you are looking for a plastic surgeon for your breasts, you absolutely cannot go wrong.

Another surgeon referred me to Dr Lin because Dr Lin was the best in the area for my Medical problem. Dr Lin was very personable and explained what my problem was which was a rare condition for my age and what my options were. We decided to do surgery and he explained the procedure in depth and also said due to it being microscopic that a second surgery might be a possibility. Dr Lin did the surgeries. After the first surgery I was in the hospital for a few days..Dr. Lin came by everyday and checked on me even on the weekend. Which impressed me.A second surgery was done and took care of the problem. Also the after care was excellent. The nurses in the clinic and Dr Lin were great. If I noticed anything I thought was wrong with healing and called. They would answer the phone and get back to me right away with an answer. Dr Lin and staff made these procedures very stress free.

Great doctor, put my thumb back on after being chopped off by a machine at work. Greatful for people like him who care for others and help them gain confidence again.

Dr Lin was instrumental in the positive outcome of a life altering event when our 13 year old son experienced a traumatic amputation in his dominant hand. Due to the amazing skills Dr Lin possesses, our son had a complete recovery regaining full function of his hand after replant (reattachment) which allows him to compete in high level collegiate sports requiring hand strength and dexterity. The level of gratitude we feel towards Dr Lin is immeasurable. He turned the worst day of two parent’s lives around, returning an active young child to a life with a complete and fully functioning hand. I met Dr. Lin in October of 2022 to examine my wrist injury. Upon examination and after reviewing my CT and MRI results, it was clear my injury would involve fusing. He discussed in detail all of the pros, cons and risks associated with my treatment plan. I was reluctant to move forward with surgery because of fear but most importantly for me, the thought of losing some motor functions with my dominant hand would end my career. Dr. Lin guided me through the decision making process and advised without pressuring me. My future quality of life was my top priority, so I decided to have my wrist fused. My surgery was a success and my healing has been textbook! I am pain free and my strength and function are improving daily.Follow up care with Dr. Lin has been excellent. He is always available for me to contact him and his staff is amazing as well.I hope this review helps you make a confident decision in determining how to proceed with your treatment plan. I had 3 previous surgeries for a torn tendon. These surgeries left my finger at a permanent 90 degree angle. Dr Lin was able to do a 4th surgery and free up my finger. I can now move my finger and am able to use it again. I am very thankful to him for being willing to take on my case. He has a great bedside manner and listened to all my concerns and addressed every question I had. I wouldn’t hesitate to go to him if I ever need another surgery. If you have any hand problems he is definitely the Dr I would go to. His office staff are also wonderful, they are always friendly and efficient.

I was referred to Dr. Lin to discuss surgical options for lymphedema in my right arm. I am grateful! We had a few appointments (in person and video) so that I could fully understand my options and understand the risks and benefits. Dr. Lin was thorough with his responses and easily translated complicated medical terms and procedures into simple words a patient can grasp. In addition, he’s also kind and personable. I felt confident that he was the right person for the job. And, I was right. He preformed several successful lymphovenous bypass surgeries tying together the lymphatic system with the venous system. This opens up a new pathway for lymphatic fluid to get out of the arm and back into circulation. I highly recommend Dr. Lin.

My son broke 3 bones on his hand that required fairly significant surgery. After a lot of research we decided that Dr. Walter Lin was the optimal person for the job. He is very well respected by other surgeons and got high marks from everyone we spoke with. Our experience with Dr. Lin was amazing from start to finish. He clearly laid out the options for surgery and was very clear and honest with his communicating. The surgery went extremely well and the recovery has been as expected. I am really glad that I was able to choose Dr. Lin as my surgeon for my ftm top surgery! He was very patient with answering all of my questions and I was able to have results catered to my specific needs. His techniques are extremely up to date on preventing dog ears, puckering, and nerve damage. My whole process with him took 5 months from first email to surgery but it could have been earlier if I didn't have specific scheduling requests. The clinic was extremely accommodating to my schedule and timeline. His whole team is very dedicated and I am super happy with my results and care. I would recommend him for anyone who wants great bedside manner and excellent results.

I had an extremely positive surgical experience with Dr. Lin, and his team. I am happy with my results. My chest was better than I thought it could be. Dr. Lin is a professional with amazing skills! He removed my very large breasts, and constructed the masculine/manly chest of my dreams. I am grateful for the emotional, and physical care I received from Dr. Lin. Dr. Lin is an amazing burn specialist and surgeon. I had some unfortunate burn injuries which required me to seek care at a burn clinic. I thankfully established care with Dr. Lin who took the time to listen and thoughtfully plan care based on my individual needs. He did an AMAZING job on the surgery I required due to the injuries as well as guiding me through subsequent care issues (including cosmetic related concerns).
