I liked Dr. Magee very much and was sad to see him retire. But he has been helping other for over 50 years and certainly is entitled to his retirement. There are not enough psychiatrists in the Twin Cities to do much more than manage medication. If you want therapy you should see a licensed psychologist. I too had difficulty with medications - I called clinic and was able to be seen within a few days.

I feel Dr. Magee was more about giving me a medication versus actually listening as well as getting to know me. He has the mantra if you just take a pill, you do not need a therapist. I had several medications that did not work for me due to medication sensitivity, and Dr. Magee threw out the term bipolar at me. I am allergic to several antibiotics, which he knew in advance. I always felt I had to defend myself with he and the nurse, and I felt I could not trust their advice.
