Best doctor I've had in my adult life
I've been a Kaiser member for a long time and a patient of Dr. Halligan's for over a decade and am frankly puzzled by the number of low reviews here. I've never known him to be late to my appointments. He's thorough and orders lab work and vaccinations that aren't on my radar, but also always asks me if there's something I want to discuss with him. His stance with me is always collaborative. Prior to becoming a Kaiser member, I had another HMO insurance where I had to find my own primary care doctor who then controlled when or if I could see a specialist. Every single communication required an in person visit and copay, even just getting results from lab tests. I appreciate Kaiser's efficient approach to health care delivery, and I'm not bothered that the doctors there complete your chart while they are interacting with you since that allows them to stay on schedule.

I scheduled a telephone appointment with Dr Halligan and he never called. This is incredibly unprofessional and delayed my access to medication I needed. There was no update or apology from his office even hours later that he had to reschedule or was running late. I was left waiting for hours.

Confused of these reviews. Welcome to San Francisco, where there is traffic and constant delays getting to the office. Dr Halligan is extremely smart, and gives you his best at all times. First impression was very kind, and on going treatment, he’s the best.

Typed on his computer all the time, asking the same questions over again. My cholesterol was high, he gave me a number to call for advice. Asked him to do annual full blood work. His response was its done based on symptoms, so he hasn't heard of screening. Asked him why he wouldn't order blood work, as I have diabetes in my family and previously had prediabetic sugar levels. Response was "Science says to check sugar once every 5 years". Condescending man, who doesn't know contemporary medicine.

He has consistently been 40-50 minutes late for my appointments even though I always scheduled to be his first appointment for the day. He was never able to give me a direct answer when it came to complex questions, neither verbally nor online. I prefer to have personal space, but he always sat very close. I would not recommend Thomas Halligan, Kaiser has many other doctors who are great.
