Hip Surgery Nightmare
Replacement hip surgery (which was to have originally been a Day Surgery procedure) was F’d up twice in the same day. During the 2nd surgery (within 24 hours), Dr. Gardner broke my femur. At my last visit I was told by Dr. Gardner, “I’m sorry, I’ve never seen this before, it may may take 1-2 years to heal, come back in 1 year”. He either says “I don’t know” or gives a blank stare when asked a direct question. He offers no further info, or treatment (CT scan, MRI, or referral elsewhere). After 3 rounds of Physical Therapy and 12 months following surgery, I am unable to walk up steps, and I walk with a Trendelenberg Gait (hip drop, limp). I am an 66 year old female who now has a limited life style because of this. I can no longer work in my flower garden, go shopping at a mall, or walk on a sandy beach. I have been made old before my time!

I love Dr Gardner. His office staff was friendly and informative. Wait time was very reasonable. Dr Gardner himself was very attentive. Listened to my complaints. Very impathectic. Explained everything. Took his time. Made me feel like his only patient. I highly recommend Dr Gardner. I will use him for my future concerns!

I saw Dr. Garder for a mass in my knee. I didn't meet Dr. Gardner until the day of my surgery, but rather a PA. It was characterized by the office as a cyst or fibroma. I mentioned it was very hot and that I was losing weight, and I was told that I should see my GP to check whether I might have lung cancer--but certainly not the mass as a cause of body temperature change or weight loss. The MRI technician's report mentioned that the mass might be a malignant neoplasm. Dr. Gardner carved it out without regard for that report, leaving sarcoma cells in place in the tissue and in the bloody swelling left behind. Two weeks later, he acknowledged the post-operative pathology suggested sarcoma, but wanted me to wait three week for his follow-up appointment before any oncology referral. Fortunately, I did not wait, and had surgery to attempt to clean up the neglected cancer cells as soon as possible. Attending to the MRI technician's recommendation might have made a big difference.

I was very impressed with the careful precautions taken during this health crisis. I had little wait time to see Dr. Gardner and was pleased with his care helpful advise. He didn't pressure me to have surgery and did what he could to relieve my pain. I would highly recommend him to friends and family.
