Dr. Sherell Vicks, MD

I have been with Dr. Vicks for over 25 years. She is wonderful. If I did not believe she was dedicated to her profession, I would have left and found another doctor a long time ago. Sometimes the wait times a long; however, when your time comes to be seen, you will understand. She takes her time with you and she listens to your concerns. Dr Vicks is personable but has the most disorganized, poorly educated and uncaring staff I it have ever interactEd with. Dr. Vicks has become completely overwhelmed likely because the quality of her staffing has severely diminished. Her administrative staff is dismissive, inarticulate, lazy, rude, unprofessional and uncaring. Once we acknowledged the need to find a doctor with a more professional staff we realized our inaction very likely contributed to our family member’s death. If calling for an emergency appointment it was impossible to get past her staff, due to their inability to deliver a coherent message to the doctor and their lack of understanding of the difference between a general appointment and a situation requiring immediate follow up or referral. If you just need routine care perhaps you will be fine. If you need a responsive doctor who actually maintains an answering service or has a covering physician when she is not available then Dr. Vicks is the wrong choice.

It is unfortunate that I have to write this review. This physician has clearly lost her touch to empathize or sympathize with her patients. I have trusted her for years and no longer feel cared for or concerned about. It is time for her to retire because caring for her patients is no longer a priority and we want even speak to the lack of professionalism. Another review spoke on the dismissive nature that she displays and that pretty much sums up my experience as well. I have NEVER gone to a doctor and felt worse after the experience. Please take heed.

She’s always responsive and thorough

Have been a patient for over 10 years and was advised I will need emergency surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. When I called in to obtain an appointment I was told by the receptionist that my doctor had no openings until 25th of April. Keep in mind this is an emergency. I may have cancer and it was obvious the staff didnt care. It use to be a time if you were sick the staff cared enough to see you immediately. Dr. Vicks use to care and was loving. This isn't an elective surgery. Its a must.

Dr. Vicks has good bed side manners but when it comes to handling business, getting your records and making appointments you never can get in. I think that the office receptionist is overwhelmed and needs more professionalism in handling patients medical needs.

Dr. Vicks is dismissive & unprofessional. She is not attentive/does not listen to your concerns. Although she did not give names, she often discusses statements and conditions of other patients that are presently in the office! Hour long waits. The office staff are disorganized and change frequently.

Dr. Vicks is a warm, caring professional who takes her time, listens to your questions and makes certain to address each concern. That said, sometimes wait times are a bit long (20 minutes or so) very likely because of the personal attention given to each patient. Dr. Vicks makes certain you fully understand everything she is doing and why. I don't know that I have ever met a medical professional who has made me feel this safe and secure.
