Maternal & Loving Doctor! Read my review!
Dr. Hame has a maternal, loving, mother quality to her. She is warm, friendly, caring, doesn't discriminate whatsoever. She is actively involved in teaching residents and medical students, and is the highest ranked female surgeon in orthopedics for UCLA. This is a tremendous journey that she has climbed in a male dominated industry. She is LGBTQIA friendly and welcoming, and has a deep compassion for veterans and the disabled. Now, here's the truth about her approach. She is by the book. Doctors are required to do 'work up's' in a patients chart, mainly due to insurance companies approving surgeries. You first start with physical therapy, then a cortisone or HA injection, then surgery. So for all knee meniscus tears and ACL injuries, and other non-life threatening injuries, I am talking to you. For hip injuries, the same applies, unless it is medically deemed life threatening. Don't blame the doctor for following protocols. Blame your health insurance company.

Avoid her if you can
She was my ACL reconstruction surgeon 5 years ago. She provided wrong information about patellar autograft donor site morbidity, stating that the donor site will recover 100% easily. Years have passed, the donor site stayed "dented" and never recovered a bit. There is always a knee pain associated with this dent. If she is honest about the donor site morbidity, I would have chose allograft. Her surgery took 2 hours longer than normal in my case. And her team did a meniscus revision on my knee, which "cut-away" parts of good meniscus. I found this out several months after the surgery due to strange knee pain that I did not encounter before the surgery. I took an MRI, and the doctor told me some parts of my meniscus was reduced greatly by surgery, which could be unintentional. Avoid her if you can.

Best Surgeon in LA!
Dr. Hame has a very personable bedside manner and is very engaging. Her surgical skills are excellent and she takes the time to really explaing everything and make you as comfortable as you can be on the day of surgery. She also has excellent support staff who are knowledgeable and responsive. My experience with Dr. Hame and her team is the best I've had in a long line of orthopedic and general physicians.

Dr. Hame is amazing
Dr. Hame is amazing! I was in a wheelchair for 2.5 years and my doctors, back home in Nashville, could not help me due to Ehlers-Danlos and their lack of experience. Dr. Hame did two hip surgeries (1 on each hip) and now I can walk again!! She also stabilized my shoulders so they would not sublux again. Dr. Hame has changed my life forever, and I am eternally grateful for her. I see her as a member of my family!! God bless her and also Maria Dyer, her assistant!

Dr. Hame is one of the best doctors I've had the pleasure of being a patient with my whole life. I've suffered from a chronic condition my whole life and have been tossed around from doctor to doctor for years with no answers. When I thought I was at the end of my rope I got an appointment with her as a consult for surgery and we were able to avoid surgery for a couple of years. Finally, when I had to get the surgery I was so lucky to have her. My surgery went perfectly and exceeded my expectations. Through my recovery, every therapist, doctor, and hospital staff all raved about her and how she had completed surgery for them or their family or someone they knew and that she was the best of the best. Two weeks post-surgery and my scars from the incisions are smaller than 1 inch and almost completely unnoticeable. She took into consideration the appearance cosmetically and I am so appreciative. Be sure to consider Dr. Hame for your surgery.

I don’t know where to begin... Dr. Hame & Marie have been AMAZING. My son had a pretty bad injury that requires 2 surgeries. From our very 1st appointment we felt welcome & comfortable. Dr. Hame was patient & took her time explaining the process & answering all of our questions. My son needed to have the 1st procedure quickly & Marie got it scheduled. There was a few bumps along the road with the insurance company however Marie was always there to save the day each time. Marie went above & beyond by staying over to get an approval to avoid rescheduling the surgery date. Surgery date came & everything went well. Thank you Dr. Hame & Marie

I love Dr. Hame! She conducted my surgery to fix a partial hamstring tear in April 2020. She was compassionate and thorough in explaining what I should expect going into my first-ever surgery. She made a small 2" cosmetic incision along my butt crease, which healed quickly and is not at all visible unless you know what you're looking for. Surgery took a relatively quick 4 hours and she made sure to check on me TWICE after the surgery (I was woozy from the anesthetic and didn't remember talking to her the first time). She showed me pictures from the surgery afterward, which was pretty neat (she teaches and trains medical students and residents so images are helpful). Her team was amazing and so caring despite lots of changing protocols due to COVID-19. I did a lot of self-PT since in-person options were limited at the time, and I'm pretty much back to 100% mobility - running, jumping lunges, etc. Would recommend her and her care team in a heartbeat!

Dr Hame was incredibly rude and condescending to me. She didn't take time to accurately assess anything, and was offended when I asked questions about her treatment plan. She dismissed everything I said and when i said I wasn't open to a certain treatment, discussed it with the resident as if I wasn't even there. She implied my previous physical therapy hadn't been successful after because I wasn't participating. Completely rude, unprofessional. Honestly a terrible person, I cried after the apt.

She seems like a very good doctor, very attentive and doesn't rush. That being said, I waited over an hour and a half to see her! It seems like getting into and out of the facility takes up enough of your time, it is unacceptable to wait that long once you are inside!

I am thankful to find Dr. Hame! She treated me with care and kindness and she paid attention to where my pain is. She asked me questions and she listened to me and examined me carefully. She ordered a MRI and is going to find out what is causing me so much pain. I wish I would have come to her a long time ago, she is awesome!

Dr Hame is very warm & nice to talk to. Recovery from repair of hip labral tear difficult & prolonged. 2 crutches for 4 months, one crutch for another two. 1 year of physical therapy, 8.5 months off work & never fully regained strength in left leg. The surgery failed after 15 months. In pain & unable to walk without a crutch. Dr Hame said new MRI unremarkable, just inflammation. Got 2nd opinion, & had complete revision surgery by new surgeon 18 months after original surgery by Dr Hame
