My name is Ana. I am 40 years old and have suffered from bad menstrual cycles since adolescence. Through the years, I have been on several birth control methods all of which tamed my symptoms similarly. To give a little back story, in 2019 I experienced excruciating lower back pain and immediately was seen by an orthopedic surgeon. Where I was diagnosed with herniated and degenerated discs. Several years later, the pain travelled down my sciatic nerve through my pelvis and eventually numbed my left leg. I was immediately sent in to have emergence lumbar microdiscectomy. Though, I did feel some relief my gut feeling was that there was something more wrong. In January 2023, I went to see my Gynecologist, Dr. Stratton of Novant Health Mint Hill OB/GYN for irregular cycles while on Seasonique (a three-month cycle birth control). At this visit, her office did transvaginal sonogram. They suspected I had uterine polyps; however, they also were able to see what looked like a 7mm mass behind my uterus. She immediately sent me in for an MRI. My results came back as 10mm mass in my cul da sac that was affixing my uterus to my colon. She recommended I get laparoscopic surgery to determine what the mass was. I immediately started researching experienced specialists and came across Dr. Scott Schneider of Novant Health Minimally Invasive GYN Surgery – South Park. I made an appointment as was able to get in within the week. Upon walking into the office, I felt a sense of calm. The reception area played beachy wave sounds and the front desk staff was very receiving. I was escorted in by Nurse Kristen who was very warm and friendly. Shortly after, Dr. Schneider walked in very confident and professional yet warm and relaxed. He said he looked over my records and asked me several questions and had a very lighthearted conversation. He advised me that according to my reports and his experience he believed that the masses were endometriomas and that I possibly had endometriosis. He took his time and explained very thoroughly and in great detail what endometriosis was and went over all my options. He suggested I have exploratory robotic laparoscopic surgery to confirm endometriosis and excise all endometriosis possible or we could try medications first to see before we went with the surgical route. He was very informative and emphasized that he would support which ever route I chose that best suited me. I felt very comfortable and decided to go with the surgical route. Dr. Schneider’s office advised that his surgery schedule was booked 3 months out but that they had a cancellation in three months. I immediately booked that date. Between then and the surgery the office diligently worked with the insurance approval and pre op appoints with me. The day of surgery, I was scheduled for an11:30 start. I checked in to the hospital and was escorted to the ambulatory surgery unit. There I saw Dr. Schneider’s smiley face and we went over the game plan again and felt super at ease. The intake nurse took all my vitals and stated, “your numbers are perfect, you definitely do not seem nervous”. She was completely right; I was so ready to get started. He spoke to my family and advise them he would most likely provide an update within the hour or as soon as he could. My procedure went longer than expected but as Dr. Schneider advised he communicated with my family and put them at ease by informing them that everything went well and explained in detail his findings. In recovery, my family was able to come in and see me and told me the conversation they had with Dr. Schneider. I was not expecting to see him but shortly after he came to check in on me and explained the surgery and his finding to me as well. To my surprise, the pain in my lower back and pelvis that had remained from my previous surgery had completely resolved. Excited with the outcome Dr. Schneider discharged me and wanted to see me in one week for my post op checkup. At me appointment, Dr. Schneider recapped everything we had discussed post-surgery and showed me pictures of the endometriosis he found and the before and after of the procedure. I was very taken aback with the time he dedicated to explaining everything especially what our steps were going to be moving forward. I am now almost 8 weeks post-surgery and am feeling 100% back to normal. I recommend Dr. Schneider and his office with my eyes closed. He is experienced and knowledgeable and shows he really cares about his patients. I am so happy that our paths crossed, and I will be forever in debt with him.

Dr. Schneider came highly recommended, and he certainly lived up to his excellent reputation. I am eight weeks out from pelvic reconstructive surgery. Although I am 67 years old, my recovery was a breeze, and my multiple prolapse-related problems were resolved completely. Dr. Schneider proved to be one of the kindest and most conscientious among the excellent doctors from whom I have received medical treatment. I highly recommend him.
