Fantastic Care
I would highly recommend Dr. Mair to anyone experiencing shoulder issues. Dr. Mair allowed me to shadow him for several months, and in that time, I have seen patients both pre and post-op. Seeing people experience the joy of feeling physically better after this work has been outstanding. Dr. Mair truly gives his patients options and works with them to personalize care. He is a wonderful mentor and a fantastic surgeon.

Was seen my a resident at the VA in Lexington, KY with the Attending being Dr. Mair. When the resident wouldn’t listen to any of my issues I asked to see the Attending Physician. It took about 2 minutes to realize why the Resident didn’t listen to anything. Dr. Mair was pompous, dismissive and insulting. He didn’t even come in the room to talk to me. He stood at the door forcing me to look over my bad shoulder to talk to him. He looked as if he had been awaken, his hair was very disheveled and his sweater looked to be two sizes to small. Very unprofessional appearance for a Dr. I am sure the VA pays him well for his day at the hospital. However, his demeanor and lack of ability to listen makes it money well waste. After telling him of a previous surgery he said that the doctor must not have been good. I can not speak to his surgeon abilities but would hope the VA would find someone better to assist with their Veterans. He is a disservice to those that served. Not recommended.

Have had two rotator cuff repairs performed by Dr. Mair. I did my research before selecting a surgeon & chose Dr. Mair, and am I ever glad I did! I wanted to regain full, athletic use of both shoulders, not simply regain day-to-day functionality, and that is exactly what Dr. Mair & his team at UK Sports Medicine were able to provide. Granted, I’ve had to do my part as well, but none of it would have been possible without the skills, knowledge, & experience he provides! I recommend him hughly!

I was in a motorcycle accident which caused injury to my rotator cuff. They discovered I had a full tear in 3 places. Dr. Mair was excellent and I have had very little pain. I look forward to my follow-up appt with him to determine what my next steps are. In my pre-op appt with him - he was very thorough in explaining the process of the surgery an answering all of my questions.
