Would not recommend.
I had three surgeries for detached Retina. I still cannot see. He may be a good surgeon but his follow-ups are terrible. Never gives you information and is always on the run. Patients need the courtesy of detailed information or we worry constantly. Obviously he has to many patients and doesn’t know who is who.

Good Doctor but in a rush
Dr Houston is a good Doctor but his rushed attitude is a little offensive. He books appointments as early as 8:00 AM but does not arrive in the office until 8:45 and then he rushes around seeing patients. He is thorough with his procedures but when he enters the exam room he is rushed and barely explains anything. It is often difficult to ask him questions as he is rushing out the door to the next patient.

Unhappy with Dr. Houston's Attitude
I completely understand the need for doctors to maintain their appointment schedules, however the patient is 'paying' for services and this includes SOME interaction with the patient. Dr. Houston rushes in/out of the room, completely relies on his support staff to set up any procedure, and follow up after he administers injection treatment. Dr. Houston doesn't even bother with a greeting, he rushes in and out so quickly. The most recent visit I tried to ask a question and he became annoyed as he was rushing out of the room. I repeated my question THREE times, so he stood at the door-jam, sighed audibly, and offered a very brief reply. Dr. Houston is being paid for his services, he should be more attentive to the patients, not just the procedure. Many patients' in the senior age group NEVER question the 'white coats, i.e., doctors' however this is not acceptable for individuals who DO WISH to seek explanations or have questions answered. We will be changing doctors.

Permanently damaged my eye
In a relatively safe surgery to remove silicone oil, Houston permanently damaged my retina. He had absolutely no compassion, no explanation and no apology. A cold hearted person and very poor excuse for an eye doctor. BEWARE…

Waste of Time, Poor Patient Skills
Was referred to Dr Houston, for an implanted lense subluxation. I needed an immediate surgery to correct. His notes, post office consult, were finally received a month later. He is clearly confused as his follow up states 'patient advised & prefers to wait and try refraction'. He clearly never bothered to read the referral where refraction was tried and did not work, and patient wanted surgery now. Cannot get through to the office. Best to find a better doctor. This one has seems to have no clue. Do not recommend.

Direct and friendly, answers all your questions
I was asking for a second opinion on macular degeneration and he answered straightforwardly and directly and gave me good news. I would trust him, and like his friendly personality. He also has a few years of experience, thought he is youthful, judging by the waiting room, he is also popular. I am switching from my other retina doctor who terrified me about the need for shots, which was incorrect.

Dr.Houston is really one of the best doctor we have ever known. My husband had a serious problem due to diabetic disease and was treated by Dr. Houston twice in 2018. As we are not native speakers, he tried to explain by one way or another in order for us to understand the best possible. We really appreciate his kindness, his reponsibility, his devotion, his sympathy. Thank you.

I completely enjoyed my visit with Dr. Houston. He was quite personable/did a great job of explaining the problem with my eyes. My eye doctor recommended him and I would go back if I ever have a problem that requires his attention. There were a lot of people in the waiting room and he handled each case giving everyone the time needed to be sure they understood what their situations were and I really liked that he was not trying to rush us through like cattle. He gets a thumbs up from me.

Dr. Houston first saw my husband in an emergency situation. Not only did he and his staff work as rapidly as possible to minimize the time that my husband spent without any sight but Dr. Houston successfully completed his surgery while explaining exactly what was going to happen and what the likely outcome was going to be. Thanks to Dr.Houston and his staff, we were able to manage through a very emotional situation without undue worry. We will be forever grateful for my husband's sight.

I had an emergency appointment with Dr. Houston & then emergency surgery with Dr. Houston; several follow up appts with him. He always explained in detail; listened to questions & concerns, then took the time to Thoroughly address everything -- still does that at each follow up. The STAFF in Lake Mary & Orlando offices are exactly the caliber of support people I'd like to find in every practice.
