Dr. Ryan Nixon, MD

I was unable to edit my previous review, so I'm posting another. I broke the wrist of my dominant hand in June 2023 and was referred to Dr. Nixon. I was relieved when, at my first visit, he said I would not need surgery. My opinion began to change once my cast came off. He said everything healed just fine, and was about to send me home. I had to insist on a referral to PT; he did not even suggest it as a possibility. Recently, I've been having continuous pain in the same wrist, so I went to a different doctor for a second opinion. When the new doctor read my x-rays he told me that the fracture did not heal properly and was misaligned by 3.5mm. He added that Dr. Nixon should have corrected it surgically rather than just casting it. He gave me a steroid injection, but if it does not resolve, I will need to go through it all over again, this time with surgery. I cannot in good conscience recommend Dr. Nixon to anyone.

At first I really liked Dr. Nixon. I saw him after I broke my wrist. When my cast came off I was stunned that he did not immediately refer me to PT; I needed to request it. Some months later, I saw him for a cortisone injection on my knee. I've had several before, but this was by far the most painful. Not only that, but I could barely walk for the next 3 or 4 weeks. I cannot in good conscience recommend Dr. Nixon.

This doctor don't know what he talking about if he can't make money from your injury he talk to you like he not interested in helping you he phony!! Stay away find yourself another doctor!!!

Friendly, easy to talk with, answered all my questions. Did a revision on my knee, uses Mako computer, what I wanted. Excellent outcome.

Everything is and was perfect! Fantastic surgeon and 10 plus rating out of the operating room as well. Highly recommend. He's a notch above all the rest!

When I returned home to Tucson after undergoing emergency hip replacement surgery at Flagstaff Medical Center, I had difficulty finding an orthopedic surgeon to do follow ups. Fortunately my PCP learned about Dr. Nixon who had recently moved from the East Coast to Tucson and referred me. On my first visit Dr. Nixon took x-rays and assured me that the procedure was done properly and the incision was healing well. I appreciated this as I never saw or spoke to the surgeon post procedure and had a lot of questions. Dr. Nixon tested my range of motion and advised what movements I should avoid and referred me to physical therapy. He listened to all my concerns and answered all my questions. He even called and spoke to my physical therapist to ensure they were on the same page regarding my treatment. Dr. Nixon is affable, patient and caring; he helped me return to hiking and other outdoor activities I love. I strongly recommend him.

Dr. Nixon is a very technically-skilled surgeon. But perhaps even more important, he is kind, patient, and very thorough. It is obvious he really cares about his patients, and he pays attention to even the smallest details. He is sure to include the patient in forming a healthcare plan and gives multiple good options. He always follows up after to ensure everything is going well too. I highly recommend him!
