surgery to replace aortic valve & 3 bypass
l am posting my pleasure with Dr. Kalimi because l just found out about this website. Dec.2021 Dr Kalimi did open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve and do 3 bypasses. 10 tears ago l developed an aortic heart murmur which was being monitored by eco & stress tests. In Oct. 2021 l had a stress test and passed it very well. ln Nov. while cutting my lawn l got tightness in my chest & lightheadedness. l sat down, put a pulse ox on 2-3 & my oxygen was 85. 2-3 Mins. sitting oxygen was 98 & tightness gone. The next week l felt the same symptoms doing work & they became more frequent. l admitted my self to Huntington hospital for more tests. They found 2 blockages in my heart which was the first time l heard of them. l was transferred to South Side Hospital and Dr. Kalimi performed my operation. every aspect of the operation was exceptional from start to finish. l am an EMT with an ambulance squad in Huntington and l know good medical care. l would ask for Dr. Kalimi with confidence.

Truly a life saver
Dr Kalimi and his team performed a tavr over 5 yrs ago and recently performed a mitraclip procedure on my mother. Both procedures had wonderful outcomes. Dr Kalimi's level of confidence in the planning process offer great comfort. After the procedures the surgical team and staff in the Cardiothorasic ICU were second to none, they were in constant communication with Dr Kalimi and us. We are extremely grateful!!!

Open heart surgery
My overall experience was excellent, from my admittance from another hospital to the care in ICU, and post ICU care. The cardiac team was informative, knowledgeable, and attentive to my questions. Every process and post procedure was handled professionally. I can’t thank the staff and Dr. Kalimi enough for saving my life and making my experience the best possible.

Best Decision Iv'e Ever Made
One meeting with Dr. Kalimi and I knew I was in the very best hands. The thought of open heart surgery can be daunting. Dr. Kalimi explained the procedure and put things in perspective for me, I went from apprehensive to comfortable and confident. Dr. Kalimi has created a remarkable cardiac care unit. They are not a Mill and are extremely outcome oriented. At one point my surgery was delayed a day to make sure something found on a previous scan would not cause a problem during surgery. They are detailed oriented and not only want a successful procedure but also no hospital acquired pneumonia or viruses once home and rehabilitating. S.S.U.H. ICU is brand new and state of the art . My nurses Kate, Brianna Erin and Araceli were the very best! Larry my Physical therapist helped me safely walk. Dr. Kalimi visited often and had time for questions and concerns. His P.A. Collins helped me go home in record time. You can not go wrong choosing Dr. Kalimi and South Shore University Hospital

Don't fret
I was very apprehensive of having my Bentall procedure. I've had a few surgeries in my time. Heart surgery is a big deal though. Dr Kalimi's professionalism and confidence put my mind at ease. He was very attentive to my concerns and was very reassuring to me. He was at my bedside every morning like clockwork . As I write this, I am less than week post-op and feel amazing. Having discussed this procedure with other people I know, hearing their stories, I am amazed at how well I feel and how ready I am to continue on with this new lease on life I have been given. Just focus on yourself and rest assured you are in excellent hands.

The Best You Will Find
My father was lucky enough to be under the care of Dr. Kalimi at South Shore Hospital from 6/12-8/3. There are no words to express the gratitude my family and I have to Dr. Kalimi. On 7/3, he preformed a very rare Commando heart surgery on my father, replacing his aortic valve, mitral valve and reconstructing his aortic curtain. This is a very rare procedure and the odds were not in my father’s favor. What made him beat the odds was the skill of Dr. Kalimi and his team. As an added bonus, he also has an outstanding bedside manner and kept the entire family at ease throughout. There is no longer a need to go to the city or St. Francis. Dr. Kalimi is a leader in cardio thoracic surgery. We will be forever grateful to him.

The very best
You don’t need to research for a cardiac thoracic surgeon past this doctor. Dr kalimi is a heart surgeon who has golden hands and an equally golden heart. We were recommended to him By other surgeons who are not even affiliated with the hospital where he practices. You couldn’t get a better referral than from other doctors. My husband had his mitral valve repaired and he’s doing great. His staff in his office are professional and extremely helpful. The nursing care in the hospital was beyond incredible, they are devoted to their profession. You need not look any further, Robert kalimi is tops.

My father needed Mitral Valve surgery and Dr. Kalimi made sure to do everything he could to repair the valve rather than replace it. The healing and repair went perfectly. I'm very grateful for his specialization and dedication to teaching and performing Cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Kalimi has built an incredible surgical team with the skills and compassion required to execute the most challenging open heart surgeries. I am 2 1/2 weeks out from repair of an aortic aneurysm and replacing an aortic valve with severe stenosis. Each day things get a little bit easier; I look forward to a full recovery. As far as I am concerned, Dr. Kalimi saved my life! I highly recommend Dr. Kalimi to anyone needing heart surgery.

It has been almost 2 months since Dr. Kalimi preformed a minimally invasive open heart surgery on me at April 12 2021 and I already went back to work for a month since everything went perfect after Dr. Kalimi fixed my ASD and repaired my tricuspid valve. Dr. Kalimi has golden hands and warm personality. He explained everything in detail and addressed all my questions before the surgery and left a almost invisible scar on my body finally. The whole team were also fantastic. Dr. Kalimi's NP, staffs in the OR, CTICU, Stepdown Unit and Follow My Heart home care nurse were professional and caring. I would recommend any of my friends or family members to Dr. Kalimi and South Shore University Hospital. Best surgeon and best team!

Dr. Kalimi performed a Mitral Valve Repair and repair of two broken chord tendons, on September 30th, 2020. His skill and expertise was amazing and the staff in the OR, CTICU and Stepdown Unit were professional, kind and caring. I credit Dr. Kalimi and the staff at Southside Hospital (now renamed South Shore University Hospital) for saving my life and giving me the opportunity to live a full, active life once again. I am a registered nurse, and believe me, I would send any one of my friends or family members to South Shore University Hospital, in Bay Shore NY, a wonderful Heart Center, for any of their cardiothoracic needs.
