Worst Doctor I have ever seen.
He is the worst doctor I have ever seen. He performed a partial thymectomy and tumor removal. He and I had decided to remove my whole thymus so the tumor would not reoccur and my symptoms of Myasthenia Gravis would be improved. He decided during surgery to remove half of my thymus without discussing it with my family. Because of this I still suffer from Myasthenia Gravis. If he had taken my whole thymus out like planned I would more than likely be in remission. He also discharged me from the hospital after less than 24hrs. I went home to have my oxygen drop into the 60s. My parents rushed me to a different hospital so he could not be involved after suffering from severe and harsh post-operative treatment from him and his nursing staff. After around 24hrs I already had double pneumonia and fluid in my pericardial sac and in both lungs. All three had to be manually drained. I was in the hospital for two weeks and then again another two weeks later when the double pneumonia returned. If h

Dr. Cerfolio is an excellent skilled surgeon. He is wise, skilled and caring. He was the fifth surgeon I visited for my condition and he was the only surgeon able to perform the surgery fully robotically and successfully. He is incredibly attentive, listens and provides his cell phone number to each patient, asks you to text him daily with an update and responds whenever you text even if its after work hours. He is thoughtful, insightful and caring. He personally addresses your issue and is proactive. He has surrounded himself with an excellent team both inpt and outpt. Excellent Fellows, Nurse Practitioners and Office Staff team that make reaching their office and having your concerns addressed simply and efficiently. I have worked in healthcare for over 30 years and have never seen a surgeon as excellent and attentive as he is. I am proud to have put my trust and confidence in Dr. Cerfolio. I thank G-d for leading me to him ! He was truly able to put me at ease as he had performed this complicated surgery all the time and his positivity and confidence was contagious. Three weeks post surgery and I'm truly grateful !

Dr. Cerfolio was my father’s doctor in Bham. My father was a 2 time Lung cancer survivor, 1991 and 2003. Thanks to Dr. Cerfolio, he had surgery both times without chemo or radiation. His 1st surgeon gave him very little hope. He eventually developed small cell and passed away in 2014.

Everything about my surgery at NYU with Dr Cerfolio was beyond reproach. My care, comfort and inclusion was an obvious priority to everyone on staff that I came across. I can not say enough about the quality of treatment and care I received. I am truly grateful for the amazing staff at NYU!

Dr. Robert Cerfolio, Chief, Clinical Thoracic Surgeon, NYU Langone, performed ROBOTIC left upper lobe lung resection to remove my adenocarcinoma. He is highly skilled, caring, responsive by text and phone with an incredible "bedside manner". Minimally invasive robotic surgery facilitated a speedy recovery, only minor discomfort - no real pain. Use of portable sealed chest-tube drainage unit allowed discharge 3-days post-op, chest tube removed 6-days post-op, returned to work 9-days post-op.

Had the good fortune of meeting Dr. Cerfolio at NYU (where is now the chief of clinical thoracic surgery after having been down in Alabama for years) after experiencing a complication following a mitral valve repair--pneumothorax. He's warm, friendly and immediately gives you the sense that he truly cares about your health and outcome. He performed a VATS and was in contact post procedure even during the holiday weekend. Can't recommend him more highly.

Back in 2011, my dad was having delayed problems after surgery. He had his left lung removed in 2009. He was sent to UAB to see Dr. Cerfolio. That wonderful doctor saved my dad’s life.

Dr. Cerfolio is not only well versed in his field, but he also took the time to make sure I understood the procedure to be performed. He provided a verbal explanation, gave me educational literature to take home, and he encouraged me to call his office if I had additional questions. He made me feel like he actually cared about my health and well being.

I highly recommend Dr. Cerfolio if you are a candidate for his surgery. I had stage lllb non small cell lung cancer that was 4 cm in size. I was told by another surgeon that he would not recommend surgery due to the fact that he thought it would be too hard for me to recover from. Basically I would only have a few months to live without surgery. I was looking for a second opinion and was told about Dr. Cerfolio doing this surgery robotically and much less invasive. I chose him ! Thank God??

Dr. Cerfolio is an extremely skilled, experienced, compassionate, direct and God loving surgeon. Although very concerned about my age (82), in a pre-op meeting I had convinced him of my strength and overall health. (He verified this via a stress test.) He successfully removed a tumor in my lung that was over 8 cm wide AFTER having me resuscitated twice and obtaining permission from my family to proceed. His skill and talent is constantly apparent by his energy toward patient success. A Champion
