best dr ever. took time with me on first visit.
talked about my lower back issues. Went over my info on falls and stumbling. He gave me a very detailed examination. I had not had this for years. He has a great sense of humor like myself. Look forward to my visits with him. He is the best dr out there.

My husband and I have been patients of Dr Carpenter for over 10 years.Recently I was diagnosed with acute diverticulitis and needed surgery. Dr. Carpenter was asked by my surgeon to sign off so the surgery could take place the following week. He refused causing the surgery to be delayed. After many telephone conversations a nurse practitioner, I had seen signed the paperwork. This caused unnecessary stress to a already stressful time. I am now recovering and have found a new primary care physician.

Rude and dismissive
Went to go see him for the first time explaining these problems have been having over the last year without even looking at my blood work or tests tries to diagnose me. when bringing up suggestions of other tests to possibly rule out anything else he completely shuts me down points to his certificates on the wall and says I think I know what I'm doing and then proceeded to be smart and tell me to bring back my mother and questioned his diagnosis on my next visit I highly recommend not seeing this doctor I will be looking elsewhere for a primary care physician

My experience with him was humiliating, not professional and downright degrading. He insulted my weight and told me I needed gastric sleeve surgery. His diagnosis of fybromyalgia was incorrect and I went on to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Weight is also coming down after proper treatment! He also put a diagnosis of osteoarthritis on my medical chart. He never saw an xray of my knees or examined them properly! Please see anyone but him. If I can help another patient from how he made me feel, I will.

I have been a patient of Dr. Carpenter for four years. He was the first Doctor to diagnose my debilitating, long term auto immune disease that is now successfully treated with B-12 injections. In addition he has helped me obtain surgical treatment for other serious health issues. He is an excellent Doctor who has a genuine interest in my health and well being.

Saw Dr Carpenter for a Rheumatological issue. For the majority of the appointment he talked about himself and his upcoming biking trip. I hope he had Fun!! I brought in detailed notes about my problems. He literally refused to read them I tried twice to hand them to him. He filled out a questionnaire and then told me we were running out of time. He referred me to another doctor who cringed and said I needed a second opinion from a board certified Rheumatologist. BTW SMHC should not have this man as there Rheumatology department he is an internist he is not board certified in Rheumatology.

Was referred to him because he is a rheumatologist according to southern maine health care. Later find out he just has an interest in it. Hes basically another family doctor with no specialty in it. Doctor was rude brought in a typed sheet describing my symptoms literally refused said no thank you when I handed it to him. Makes snotty goofy comments the entire visit.

He may be a satisfactory doctor, but he comes across as snarky and sarcastic. I dread going to him because of his snide remarks. Also, his office staff has dropped the ball several times on follow up and prescriptions.

Dr. Carpenter is always prepared for my visit having complete knowledge of my medical history. He is thorough, always gives me time to explain my current symptoms and ask questions, and listens attentively. He has helped me obtain optimum health given my chronic condition. While he practices traditional medicine, he takes a holistic approach to my overall well-being. Dr. Carpenter is completely non-judgmental and puts me at ease.
