He Changed My Life
I had Dr. Spiro for two major back surgeries in 2007 and 2009. The one in 2007 was a 13-hour surgery and was the worst he had ever seen to that point. He referred to my spine as a trainwreck. I came out of both surgeries in the end fused from L1-S1. I had no spinal pain after both surgeries and Dr. Spiro came often to check on me and make sure I was ok. No one else in the northeast US would touch my back but Dr. Spiro did. He is an amazing Dr. with amazing skill. Very compassionate, caring and wonderful bedside manner. I still do deal with some chronic pain but I am able to function and most importantly walk. He was very honest with me pre and post op about my condition and gave me precise instructions on what I needed to do. I would recommend him to anyone!

I had surgery at ecmc on Oct 7, 2021 with dr spiro and I am very pleased with the outcome of my surgery! I’m in pain but it’s getting better, I so far am not having the issues that lead to me needing a cervical decompression surgery to begin with and he was absolutely amazing before the surgery when he came to check on me and get me to sign for the procedure!

After previously having a bad surgery I came to him in awful pain and he told me, idk what this surgeon did but I can fix u! He not only gave a horrible bone infection that took 6 weeks IV MEDS, the surgery did not work because he left the plate or screws on my spines! He had his partner open me back up to do a bone wash, and I never saw him again! He is the worst Dr. I wish there was NO RATING!! It's a slap in the face he is practicing medicine, when I can barely turn my neck!!! Or use my hands! Please! Look at the rest of these reviews!

I was apparently seen by his so-called assistant who, upon entering the room replied, " There is nothing wrong with your back". I naturally believed him to be joking as I had my disc and a host of "things wrong" listed on a medical print out. "Yea, right", I said with a grin. "No, really. There is nothing wrong with your back", he said again. Then the little dip stood there as if he was waiting for an obvious reply back. After an awkward pause featuring my what the look, I looked over at the nurse and asked for my disc back and got up and left. No explanation as to what was making my back seize up, what to expect or what I could do. Little Napoleon was much more of a joke than a doctor.

Came to Spiro for a MRI review with terrible sciatica. I wasn’t a surgical candidate. Told me that I shouldn’t work out. Talked over me. Dismissed my concerns.

I had an appt to review an MRI of my neck. The day before my appt the receptionist called me to remind me of my appt. 4 hours later she called back with some rubbish story - Dr. had 'multiple' staff out in his Butler location and couldn't travel to Beaver for my appointment. Could I go to Butler? This is over 1 hr away from me. I declined as I have to take time off work. I asked for a reschedule and was told none were available 'in the foreseeable future'. They suggested I find another doctor!!!

I had an appointment and met with Dr. Spiro and his PA. They were attentive, thorough, answered my numerous questions, and addressed all my fears. I took a weekend to decide what I wanted to do and then I scheduled my surgery. I was able to speak with the doctor prior to surgery and post-surgery. And had regular contact with his competent Physician Assistant. I felt comfortable in the care of this staff and was treated with respect and professional compassion. I highly recommend Dr. Spiro.

I had surgery for spinal stenosis on August 17th,20th and 21st, 2016 by Dr.(?) Spiro. The end result being a week in ICU and then being transferred to UPMC Spinal Cord Injury rehab. It has been a year now and I still have minimal use of my arms and hands, but at least I have regained the ability to walk. I am worse off today then I was before surgery and must take multiple medications for the spasms and the burning and tingling in my feet and hands. DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM!!!

I had Dr. Spiro for a back surgery about 8 years ago and I thought he was one of the best surgeons I ever had!!! He followed up with everything and his clinical nurse was excellent and very nice and professional. I am still pretty much pain free!!!

Had surgery and never saw the doctor at all before or after. He has is nurses complete all of his work. They would not return my phone calls, and when they did they were rude. Furthermore when I requested the operation report it was missing almost all of the information, basically a form letter with my name plugged into it. I had to go to another doctor to get my staples removed because his office was "too booked"! I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere you deserve better care...

This man should not have a medical license! His nurses "do" everything, and not in a good manner. My operation was successful, however the pre and post op care were horrible. I could not get a phone call for 2 weeks!! This after leaving me with staples in my back and playing doctor myself. Very disappointed in all of the office staff as they are so unprofessional, keep in mind that is the only contact for you the patient is a rude nurse. Please do yourself a favor and skip this "doctor"

Horrible. After they are done with you and your surgery they will try to pawn you off to another doctor. Then you play along because "they are the doctor." When you call for help, don't expect a phone call back for a few days! If you get an MRI or any other tests make sure they look at it or they won't. Trust me look into another office. I'll save you the trouble I had. Go to somebody that cares, you at least deserve that. They actually forgot about me in the Dr. Office before too. Sat for 2 hrs

Had surgery by Dr. Spiro and results are great..no more pain! BUT...I cannot give five stars because I did not see him at all on the day of my surgery...not preop...not in the OR..and not postop! Can't be certain that he did the surgery because I never laid eyes on him. Also, post op office visits are with a PA...he seemed irritated that I wanted to see HIM in the office. I really hate that extenders are providing nearly all of the patient care.

I paid to see Dr. Spiro for three visits. I saw him on the first visit for 2 and a half minutes. I saw Physicians Assistant next two visits. Got the information wrong, did not listen, conveyed false information to Dr. Spiro. I have lost faith in our health care system.

I had back surgery on Oct. 30th and everything went extremely well. I have had a period of time and results are excellent. Prior to surgery I had experienced pain and foot drop for several months, years for pain. Every procedure was explained well and Dr. Spiro and his staff were professional and courteous. I would go to him again.
