Terrible bedside manner
Unfortunately, I had to visit Thayer for a medical emergency during the day. I told my wife 'I hope the Dr. is not Reid Roberts' as I had him as the daytime ER Dr. a couple of years earlier for the same issue. On the first visit, he could not have been more disinterested and sat picking his nails while I explained my problem to him and he acted like he had better things to do than to listen to me. Today it was no different and I was glad that my wife was with me to witness how uncaring and demeaning he is to the patients. If I have another emergency during the day I will go to Inland or Augusta rather than be treated this way.

My mother has been seeing him for a couple of years. He is never very personable but in Milledgeville you don't have many choices. She had labs drawn in January (that he ordered) and saw him in February. HGB 8.2, which he did not mention even though she was symptomatic for anemia at that time. In March she became short of breath, went to urgent care then followed up with pulmonologist who has access to her labs and he noted the low HGB level. He recommended that she see her primary MD, Dr. Roberts but also recommended that he refer her to a hematologist. The hematologist started Fe infusions and did a blood transfusion and referred her to a gastroenterologist based on a positive blood in her stool (something a primary care MD should have checked for). A mass was found in her colon but not until May! If he had done his job and followed up on what he ordered this possibly could have been found earlier!!!!

Dr Roberts took time to answer all my questions and made me feel as if all my concerns were warranted. He took extremely good care of me.

Took my spouse to the ER who had tested positive for Covid and has a number of underlying conditions. She had had a temp over 101 severe fatigue and aches. She had a phlegmy cough but no difficulty breathing. There had been some issues of confusion as well. She had been exhibiting these symptoms for over a week with no improvement. Her oncologist had alerted the ER about her arrival and issues. I was not permitted to accompany her into the ER but gave as much info as I could to the medical folks at the desk. I also gave them a piece of paper with my name and contact numbers. I left assuming she would at least be admitted for observation. I know sooner got home then I get a call from my spouse to pick her up. Long story short Dr Roberts did nothing to help my spouse. He told her she was better off going home because there are less germs there. He offered no suggestions or therapeutics. I brought my spouse home and her temp tonight is 103.4
