Best MD!
Great surgeon who explains treatment options in detail with examples. Takes time and care to treat patients. One of the best MD’s I have seen ever.

On August 12th, during a CT scan for an unrelated issue, there was an accidental finding of a very large aneurysm on my Basilar artery. Someone recommended Dr. Ashour. When I contacted his office, they advised me to go to the ER. I did. Dr. Ashour performed an angiogram for better imagining, then did the procedure on the aneurysm. Dr. Ashour's knowledge, professionalism, and caring saved my life! He takes the time to make sure you understand optional procedures, the whole process, and the risks of each one. He was equally patient with my family who asked a bunch of questions, too. I would definitely recommend him, and I'm glad I'm in his care!

Blessed To Have Him As My Neurosurgeon
Dr Ashour was available within weeks after I returned from vacation with a coiled ruptured aneurysm. I was vacationing in Spain when the rupture occurred and wasn’t sure what to expect when I returned to Austin. Dr Ashour took time to explain next steps and answered all of my questions along the way. It helps to have a good network when you survive a rupture, that includes healthcare providers, caregivers, and support groups. Within the first few months of meeting with Dr Ashour, I was pleasantly surprised to find that he was a guest speaker at one of my Facebook support groups. I don’t know of many doctors that take this extra step to support survivors who are not their patients. During pre and post op care after my angiograms, I’ve heard nothing but great things from his peers and colleagues, which gives me peace of mind as I continue my life changing journey. Next up is a stint after discovering I have another aneurysm, again blessed to have Dr Ashour on my team.

I felt well cared for
I transferred my care to Dr Ashour from the academic medical center where I had my cerebellar aneurysm addressed 2 years ago. He came very highly recommended by my physician colleagues here in Austin. This has been a wonderful experience. My inquiries via the portal are answered in a timely fashion and I’ve had no trouble getting in contact with him or his nurse.I feel that my visits with him were collaborative and he gave me all the information I needed to make future decisions. I also felt like he was treating ME, not just my aneurysm

Yes I absolutely would and have told my friends about Dr. Ashour. He is very professional but at the same time explains things so that the every day person can understand it. He is very personable and treat you like you’re a family member as far as his concern for your health and your recovery. He has perform two brain surgeries on me and I literally have trusted him with my life and will continue to. I I would tell anyone I know to use Dr Ashour if they had something wrong with their brain. My experience with Dr Ashour has been a very pleasant and excellent experience. If he were to move his office say two or three hours further than Austin I travel the distance just to have him as my doctor.

I was admitted on Christmas day in need of a spinal fusion. Dr. Ashour and his team took time away from their families to perform my surgery. They did a great job . I had an eight week stay in there for recovery and the follow up care by Dr. Ashour was amazing. If your in need of his services, rest Ashour (haha) you will be in the best of hands

I came to him with a very complex problem and he was able reassure me and do the surgery that was needed. He talked to his fellow colleagues and to plastics about my case and came up with a plan. I felt like I was in great hands and trusted him. He did an amazing job and I feel so much better. When they all did rounds it was good to know they knew who I was and just not another case. I feel I got the care and respect I deserve.

My husband had a macroadenoma pituitary tumor successfully removed by Dr. Ashour just two weeks ago. He is a consummate professional with a genial demeanor. Everything was clearly explained prior to surgery. We would highly recommend him for any neurological procedures and are extremely grateful for his exceptional knowledge and skills.
