Prescribed expensive optical meds
I had Dr Amin at Sutter North for 10 plus years. He had diagnosed me as having glaucoma. Over the years he tried several optical meds to control my high optical pressures. He settled on one of most expensive non generic drops and visits every 3 months. My optical pressures were lowered but not alot. When he left Sutter, I went to UC Davis Eye Institute. They did extensive exams and said they see only minor glaucoma. I was put on the least expensive generic meds only once a day versus twice. My pressures dropped down even more and I only see them bi annually. One thing about Dr Amin and his staff was unless you asked them, they never told you your eye pressures or showed tests. He would say they were good. This was my experience with his practice.

Will not prescribe or refer, for AMD diagnosis
He diagnosed me with AMD in my left eye, on 2-5-24, with his equipment and my description of blurriness in the center of my left eye's vision. He claimed he could not prescribe anything for its treatment, and would refer me to a UC Davis specialist. He never gave me a written report for my visit. Then my good PCP, Dr. Hara contacted his office. Dr. Hara received a reply from an 'MA' (not Dr. Amin) who mentioned my AMD, and claimed they could not provide the referral. So here I am at age 71, diagnosed with AMD, by Dr. Amin an opthamologist, who will not prescribe anything, will not do a referral, and has not provided me nor my good PCP, with a report of my visit.

Dr is friendly and personable, but scheduling an appointment is difficult due to the long wait (3 to 6 weeks) for visits with active issues. I do not recommend except for an annual check up.

He is a v ery personable and confident physician and has the ability to make one feel comfortable and relaxed. He is very thorough with his handling of me and explains what is happening to my eyes in a percise and detailed discussion. I had eye surgery for cataracts and it turned out painless and the results were amazing. I feel completely confident in his handling of my visual outlook.
