Highly Recommend for colorectal resection surgery
Dr Quilici did my colorectal resection surgery February 2021. The procedure went smoothly just liked he described. I was in hospital 2 nights. Dr Q and his assistant visted me twice while I was in the hospital and I had two follow up's at his office. I'm surprised to read a couple of negative reviews. I was very pleased with the doctor and his staff. I would highly recommend.

A real professional
Dr. Quilici did my son's colon surgery. He is a consummate professional. Before the surgery he told us 'here is what I can do for you' and the surgery went exactly as he described it, with no complication and he was back at work in less than a week. The reviews I have been reading about Dr. Quilici not doing his surgeries are either simply erroneous or malicious. Anyone who works in a hospital in the US knows that a surgeon who schedules a surgery must do his surgery and no surgery can be assigned to another surgeon without the patient's consent.I also have learned to appreciate a busy surgeon and would be really wary of a surgical office with an empty waiting room. Busy surgeons are busy and popular for a reason.

Doesn't do his own surgeries or visit the patients
I had surgery and he did NOT do my surgery and did NOT tell me he wasn't going to do it. His staff lies and covers for him. He didn't come see me before or after the surgery. The insurance company showed the surgeon who did do the surgery. I'm surprised that he's still allowed to practice. If you're smart you will check his ratings before you go to him, rather than after. It will help you from making a big mistake. Not only a dishonest and awful doctor, he's a disgraceful human being.

Good Surgeon and Office
The office was clean, modern and the staff very accommodating. Very busy. Doctors are popular. First evaluated by the nurse practitioner, Tffany and then saw Dr. Quilici. Very knowledgeable and nice. He did not think I needed surgery. I would definitely go back.

Poor bedside manner
He’s terrible… doesn’t answer questions, doesn’t explain unless patient asks questions. Went to hospital and he bumped us down the schedule and told the office staff to LIE as to why!! Good thing I’m nosy and paid attention to their private conversations. His nurse practitioner didn’t understand why someone with anxiety would not want to be given the run around. NP lied and said it was an OR problem, charge nurse said it was Quilici not being ready (she told me he mmm his office specifically told her NOT to tell us why he wasn’t being taken in yet). If people were honest, I can be calm and reasonable… they ALL lied and ignored us until we demanded answered.

Disorganized office and too many delays
Breast cancer diagnosis in Jan 2022. I went for an initial appt with Quilici and was there for 15 min. He ordered further tests. One of the labs his office referred me to didn't perform the type of MRI the doc ordered. MRI takes place late Feb and I call to see what the plan is. His ofc was insistent that they needed the PET scan too before scheduling an appt to review scan results. My insurance was dragging its feet on approving the PET. Now it's mid-March and no appt to review MRI results. I get antsy and make an appt with a highly recommended surgical oncologist who sees me immediately and goes over all test results, treatment options, sets me up with reconstructive surgeon, etc. Late March, Quilici's ofc calls me to set up an appt. I told them I'd moved on to another doc three times. It's now 6 months later and his ofc is still ordering MRI-guided biopsies and mammograms of breasts I no longer have. If I didn't have a sense of humor, I'd be very upset. Find another doc if you can.

Too busy for me
Dr. Quilici created an environment in which I felt like he no longer saw me as a person. I was referred to Dr. Q by my primary care physician after I discovered a lump on my neck. When I entered his office, he treated me as if I was a nuisance to him. He just kept shouting at me that he could not believe I was seeing him for this and that my bump was too small for him. He told me that I could return in two months. When I informed him that I was doing this now because my job would not allow me in two months, he said I should not make my medical choices that way. I am now left with this question for Dr.Q, how early is too early to detect cancer. I wish he would have just noticed that I am a human too who is scared.

For my first appointment I waited an hour to see the doctor. My third and fourth appointments I waited over 40 minutes past appointment time. The doctor delayed scheduling surgery by making me see the radiologist first even though I confirmed 3 times that nothing the radiologist might say would change what he would do surgically. This resulted in a delay, an extra copay and more wasted time in the waiting room. In addition to all the waiting, I feel brushed off when I ask questions. I also don’t get much info about what to expect or what I should and shouldn’t be doing after surgery.

Dr. Philippe Quilici is absolutely the best gastrointestinal surgeon in Southern California. He and his staff are patient, caring and highly-experienced. I had 3 surgeries done by him and he was there for me every step of the way. When my Nissen Fundoplication failed, through no fault of the surgery, he was very attentive and explanatory of what happened and what I should expect. Due to my body rejecting my revision surgery, I’m having a gastric bypass which will resolve my chronic GERDS and migrated stomach to my diaphragm. With complex surgery such as this, you want to have the absolute best and that’s Dr. Philippe Quilici and his team.

Dr. Quilici is the prominent gastric surgeon in the State of California, he is the most compassionate, caring man, in the business, if you want it done right the first time, this man goes out of his way to give the best outcome for every surgery he completes. Mine was extremely difficult and the surgery ( 40 Min ) turned into 2.5 hrs. Instead of stapling as is the usual procedure for Gastric surgery He hand stitched every inch of my surgery and said is was a masterpiece. A Gucci Bag on my insides. I will be forever grateful. Now down 100 lbs, I was completely amazed by this man and his team...Still am today nearly a year later....

Awful experience, when he says he will operate with his team, it means one of his team member will operate and not him, and that member may be less experienced surgeon than him...and Quilici will not be present in the OR either. He really should be honest with patients before surgery and explain what a team really means !!!

I had several surgeries by Dr. Quilici and always impressed by his professional staff and expertise. I came from San Diego to have my laparoscopic GERD surgery in Burbank by Dr. Quilici. He did his new laparoscopic reflux surgery and could not be happier. Great hospital. I had to post after I read the last review claiming he was an outdated surgeon. His procedure was just published, this is how I found Dr. Quilici and his team.
