Arrogant
I’ve never seen a more arrogant, rude, dismissive doctor. Horrible bedside manner. Completely worthless appointment. Would never go back.

didnt care i was in pain. felt rushed
came in for an appt that i was only able to get 2 months after i scheduled it, so most of my symptoms were gone already. he wanted to suction the dried blood in my ear to see if that would help with my plugged ears. as hes starting everything was ok, then it started to hurt, so i was flinching a bit, he tells me i need to sit still, after the 3rd time telling him the pain is getting worse i flinch so hard from the pain that i sat up, he got visibly frustrated with me...i got up and left. His bedside manner is awful, and has no sympathy for He's putting people through. won't recommend him.

Concerns not addressed & major issue missed
Dr. Van Der Reit has a very poor bedside manner. As a fellow medical professional, I don't like giving bad reviews, but he truly was very rude and dismissive. I should have listened to the other reviews. I came in with a concerning set of symptoms and some swelling in my neck that had persisted for months. He felt my neck for about 10 seconds, looked in my throat and told me I was fine because I was a young woman, and he was not concerned with my issues, which would typically be considered "alarm symptoms" by any medical standard. I asked if he wanted to do any further testing or feel the concerning areas of my neck and he said no. The whole visit was very rapid and I felt completely unheard, and like he thought I was overdramatic. I went to get a second opinion and the Dr. scoped me, did bloodwork and a chest x-ray, and could not believe they were not done already. There was a major issue that would have progressed, but would have been missed if I had listened to Dr. Van Der Reit.

This Dr seemed very dismissive and uninterested in anything I had to say. He said that my hearing loss is normal ( I’m only 37) and also that I must have had trauma that I either didn’t realize or had forgotten about ( not true ). At the end of the appointment he told me if I felt worse to come back in despite that I had spent my time during the appointment telling him how my symptoms had worsened. Very frustrating!

I did wait a long time during my initial visit. But he was courteous and explained things well. He visited with my family and I pre operation. But I am not sure if I saw him after the operation. I had alot of blood loss and it was my first time with anesthesia. So my recovery was kind of long and I was not quite with it. I was rather surprised (as was discharge nurse) that they didn't admit me.
