I was referred to a doctor at Vandy and got assigned Dr. Epstein. He was very hyper, jumping from one thing to another not explaining any of the things. Bedside manners do not bother me, however, he immediately started trying to change my medication‘s that have worked for me for years, advising me to just use him as my one doctor for all of my medical issues rather than having three separate doctors. I have had 1 of my doctors in excess of 20 years and was not about to leave my established doctors of that length of time for a doctor I just seen on the first visit. It was just a very bizarre office visit. Might be a nice guy but he was not the doctor for me. I would not recommend him.

Dr. Epstein is a very thorough doctor . He very much cares for his patients. If something is wrong or off he will call himself instead of the nurse. He is very passionate and cares very much about his patients . I see him for type 1 diabetes

I was referred to Dr. Epstein by my primary doctor. My blood levels showed signs of some medical problems but he felt the numbers were not high enough. That is fine but I am not a medical person so I wouldn’t have known that. My medical problems are important to me but I got the impression from him that I was wasting his time. That was not my intention when I went there I was wanting to understand what was going on. I believe he could have been more understanding.

Took my son there he was very rude not only to my son and to his staff. He asked for our records and we explained they were sent by the Dr. He called the nurse to get in touch with the Dr for the records she told him they were there and he had them. He was rude to her and other nurses who help us. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone! He requested more blood work and never told us what the problem was.

Assumes your health habits without asking questions, keeps referring medications that are either not covered by my insurance or are covered but more expensive than my originals without insurance, and claimed my A1c was not correct after using the same machine they use for everyone. Not to mention he isn’t always rushed and tries to get out of the patient room ASAP, one time he literally just walked out without saying any type of ‘bye’ or ‘we are done here.’

He really cares. He spent a lot of time with me during the appointment asking questions and really listening to my responses; rather than rushing through the appointment like so many doctors. Dr. Epstein even called me on a Sunday to follow up regarding how I’m doing and verifying my appointment info for a procedure he was scheduling.

Dr. Epstein did what I would expect any doctor to do on a first visit... He asked questions and listened to the answers (writing them down) for 40 minutes. After 3 visits with him I have more confidence in him than any doctor I have had in the last 30 years. He listens well and talks to you and not over your head. He takes the time to answer all questions and makes sure you understand what he is saying. I highly recommend Dr. Epstein to anyone with Diabetes.

Left his office 4 hrs ago after one of the best doctor visits ever. He was incredible in taking a history and exploring dif. avenues to figure out possible causes of my problems. I was impressed with his detective work. Engaged in learning about my health? Yes! At all time he remained on the heart of the task, kept plenty of notes, and worked to determine the actual condition's source (not just symptoms). Was there office busy and undergoing a computer upgrade= delays? Yes Worth It YES

Did not take the time to review lab results before diagnosing his patient. Clearly not interested in providing evidence-based practice to those who do not fit the typical patient profile of his day-to-day clients. Likely to refer you to any other doctor/specialist (e.g. a psychiatrist) in order to pass you off as someone else's responsibility.
