Good luck
I tried to schedule with Dr. Kane as a new patient. I was told by reception that, although she is accepting new patients, she is unable to accept me as a new patient. I asked why and was told "she handles her own schedule" with no further explanation. Since the only thing they know about me besides me name and DOB is my insurance plan, I can only assume this is a pocketbook decision of one sort or another. And that's fine, but the refusal to provide that explanation is, frankly, rude and cowardly.

Smart caring listener
I was very nervous about my first session with Dr. Kane, but I was delighted by the kindness and compassion she showed me. She is clearly very knowledgeable, but what really meant the most to me was how carefully she listened to everything I had to say and how mindful she was in her responses. I feel healing in just someone listening so well and considering my words so respectfully.

I owe Dr. Kane my well-being and life. She truly listens and cares about her patients. I like that she explains why we are doing something or why she thinks I am feeling the way I am. I am happy to be under her care. My only complaint is that her office staff is not always the best at listening or following up when it comes to insurance and appointment related stuff if there is a change. I have to be proactive or nothing will get done.

I had an appointment scheduled and got a call yesterday from her office stating that they needed to cancel my appointment. No explanation why, or alternative suggestions. This is convenient being as our health care is about to change and since I do have a pre-existing condition, I suspect that was the reason for their call. When you are dealing with patients and mental health, keep in mind, you have a responsibility and the Hippocratic Oath that should be your priority, not your pocketbook!

Dr Kane was the most insensitive doctor I've ever visited. She does not care what you have to say, and is only interested in either prescribing medication or getting you out the door. She looked at my medication history and tried to tell me what another doctor should be doing. Most unhelpful visit to a doctor I've EVER experienced. In fact I'm more depressed than when I walked in the door.
