A Doctor that listens and cares
I love Dr. Cates-Smith so much! The way she cares and listens to her patients is unparalleled!That's such a huge thing for black women receiving medical care!She's such a warm and vibrant soul! I've been a patient for almost 10yrs and I have zero complaints and I HIGHLY recommend her if you want someone that will listen, HEAR YOU, and show compassion.

I saw Dr Cates-Smith last week for the first time. She was highly professional & treated me as if I had been her patient for a long time. She gave me all the time I needed & addressed all my concerns. The entire office staff were just as kind, professional & welcoming. I am so glad I went to this Dr., she is amazing.

She’s a great doctor and cares for her patients. I’ve never felt rushed during our appointments and she has always answered my questions. The wait time to actually be seen is out of her control but it is a tad bit absurd to wait 2+ hours to only be seen for 15 minutes by the actual physician.

I honestly don’t know why anyone has complained about Dr. Cates or her staff. I literally drive an hour one way just to come to this office. The girls in the office are always super nice and smiling. Dr. Cates herself is always super upbeat and is happy to see you even with a full waiting room. I’m so thankful for the team I got during this pregnancy!

The staff was always rude, although Tina's nurses were so sweet. Pamela did not deliver my child although I had a scheduled induction, and neither Pamela nor Tina stopped by my room to check on everything although I was told they were present at the hospital. I chose the practice for the ratings and just had an awful experience. Was always stuck with Tina whom never listened to my concerns and always brushed them off. I hated going to my appointments and it made the happiest moments of my pregnancy so miserable. My biggest regret was and still is picking them for my prenatal care, as I had to drive 40 minutes and ended up having such better alternatives nearby.

Wait times are ridiculous. No point in making appointments if you are going to have to sit in wait more than 45 mins after your appt time. Office staff super unprofessional and Nurses don’t return phone calls. The Dr herself is fine but she is def in need better staff.

I was 5 weeks pregnant. Went it for routine checkup. Could not get an appointment till I was 8 weeks. I was starting to bleeding and had to go to emergency room(it was early and they could found out what’s wrong and I got discharged) this office gave me an appointment a month later but then I was still bleedin. Called them and see if they could see me earlier, they said nothing available then I went to emergency room again then found out the baby stay growing at 6 weeks when I was 10 weeks.

This was my first visit yet I felt comfortable as soon as we entered. Although the office was busy I was there from sign in to exiting just a little over an hour. She did more within that time compared to others I've visited in multiple appts. She explained my situation as my own and not some generalized woman issue. I usually don't feel comfortable with new doctors, however, she made me feel as though we'd known one another for many years. I enjoy doctors like her. I've already referred others.

I received notice before my appointment from her office that my insurance had been terminated. I told the very rude secretary that this was not the case. I waited in the crowded waiting room for an hour while they waited to hear the status of my insurance before leaving without being examined. I called United myself and was told that my insurance was find and they had never heard from PCS's office. I am a physician myself and this is completely unabbeptable. I am currently seeking a new OBGyn.
