Dr. Norman Verhoog, MD

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to mention is that Dr. Norman Verhoog is a highly competent orthopedic surgeon with many years of experience! He was very thorough in his explanation of the procedure, and took time to answer all of my questions. He has a very friendly and approachable personality! My hip replacement surgery went extremely well. The suture line remained clean and free of infection, the removal of the staples was easy, and my recovery was speedy. The follow-up appointments with Dr. Verhoog were very helpful, and my hip is now functioning beautifully, and without pain! He performs his surgeries at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Red Bluff, and that is the best hospital experience I have ever had! I would highly recommend Dr. Verhoog as an orthopedic surgeon!

I love the ease of using Dr. Verhoog's office and St. Elizabeth's hospital in Red Bluff. Patients can park in front of his office and on your surgery day, right in front of the surgery center that connects to hospital. Dr. Verhoog's office staff (which includes an experienced X ray Tech) the hospital surgery room crew, the floor support staff and nurses are all 'salt of the earth' souls.Every room is private and on one floor which can be calming towards recovery.I'm so happy with my 'new knee' as I can bend it comfortably when seated & bend it to pedal a stationary bike and now working on climbing stairs. Couldn't do any of that prior to surgery. I'm at 3 months and working on building leg strength which will take a year to be fully healed. After surgery I felt like I was going backwards in recovery before going forwards because it is a major surgery that takes time and focus on doing what you can to keeping doing the exercises prescribed. Couch potato, no.

Dr Verhoog is the best @ explanation & options for my care

My experience with Dr.Verhoog and his staff was very positive. From the receptionist that welcomed you with a friendly smile, to the doctor's assistant that was professional but very kind, to the lovely lady that took the x-rays and finally Dr.Verhoog he did a wonderful job replacing my knee. If you would like an caring, knowledgeable doctor with a sense of humor, that's an excellent surgeon. I would recommend Dr.Verhoog.

I was very disappointed in my recent experience with Dr. Verhoog. I have no reason to doubt his abilities as a surgeon, and I did my research before scheduling an appointment with him. As I am limited on characters, here is my summary. No formal introductions were made identifying staff or roles, including Dr. Verhoog (he simply came in the room and asked, "Why are you here today?") Since my issue was not a bone abnormality, he offered no other explanation for my symptoms until I prompted him. His demeanor was very dismissive, and at one paint in the visit asked, "Well, can you live with the pain?" He did not even touch, much less take the time to read the questionnaire I filled out regarding current symptoms and past medical history, again until I initiated further conversation. Summary: if you have a problem that can be addressed by Dr. V identified ONLY from a plain-film x-ray, he may be able to help you. Otherwise, do not go there if further diagnostics may be required to ID pain.

My first experience with Dr Verhoog was in 2004 when I shattered my right ankle. He had me st the office weekly and is a kind and caring Dr. In 2019 he did my left knee replacement. I haven't had bit of trouble with it, he did a beautiful job. I don't trust any other orthopedic surgeon. Especially after hearing horror stories from people who go to other surgeons and get messed up. Dr. Verhoog is top knotch!
