Work on compassion please.
Bedside manner and empathy is missing. Felt uncomfortable with his judgement of me as his new patient. Moving on to a more compassionate rheumatologist. .

Dr. Raj had no suggestions on what foods may trigger pain or what other options I had to correct hand arthritis or be able to live with the pain.

Blood work
Doctor knew I was in trouble with my lupus, I canceled appointment because I was too tired to drive to my appointment and I needed medication and no one called me to tell me I was in trouble, I fell laid on floor for 6 hours before I could reach my phone and get help .

I felt he made a quick assumption of my condition, plus me as a person. I go to all UT doctors, except one. They have all been excellent. I felt like he looked down on me. He said he did not want to see my diagnosis from a previous out of state doctor. He also said he would do NO testing on me. I worked in the medical community around 18 years, and one of the most important skills of the doctor as well as all of his staff is having good communication skills, and at least appear they care.

He's an excellent doctor who knows what he's talking about. He's very informative and intelligent. I've only had one issue and he called and said we needed to meet to discuss some bloodwork that came back. I was working so I wasn't able to answer and got this on my voicemail. I called back an hour later or so and his nurse said his only availability was 3 months later. I explained the voicemail and magically a spot opened up 2 days later. Like I said my problem wasn't him it was his nurse.

I requested my GP to refer me to a different rheumatologist but the appt. was made with Dr. Raj in the same group. I am glad and very satisfied with seeing this physician. He is very knowledgeable. He gave a very thorough exam and spent time explaining my health issues both in the initial and FU appts. He gives the best cortisone shots (pain level of 1 - 2)! I highly recommend Dr. Raj.
