Awful scheduling experience
Trying to schedule a routine follow-up colonoscopy with Dr B. at Gastro-Health. Right now 15 mins into a insanely repetitive voice-mail wait for a 'care coordinator' to pick up. Update--just got a recorded message suggesting I leave a voicemail for a call-back 'as soon as possible.'Waited 15 mins last week before giving up. No option for waiting for a call-back; no estimate of wait-time. Also tried last week to use the Portal to schedule, but that sent me over to INOVA where it wasn't clear what I was supposed to do and when I tried the GastroHealth portal again I just got an error message. I had a good experience with Dr Balba previously which is why I wanted to come back. But the administrative process is very discouraging.

Not good. I am unable to even see the doctor. I have called several times to schedule an appointment and they have never answered. The call rolls to voice mail but the mailbox is full, so no message can can be left. Horrible. I will find another doctor.

Dr Balba is the best! My son has had stomach issues almost all of his childhood and finally Dr Balba listened to him has him on the right medications and he is getting better with every day! It’s hard to get an appointment with him but that’s probably because he is so good! I highly recommend Gastro Health and Dr Balba!

I called to schedule a colonoscopy in February. After I navigated the slow paperwork process, the office finally called in mid-May to schedule the next available appointment, which was in early June. In late July, I received a very general letter (no pathology report) that the results were of concern and to have another colonoscopy in one year. Poor communication, frustrating scheduling, rude staff. Dr. Balba may be as good as my internist says, but I'll find a different practice for next year.

Because of difficulty with schedulers multiple times having to wait months for ordered endoscopies and colonoscopies, can not recommend this terrific doctor to others.

Horrible experience. I waited an hour for my appointment despite being the only patient in the waiting room and showing up half hour early to fill out paperwork. Despite a diagnosis of diverticulitis, I never met with an actual doctor - only a PA. When I asked to meet with an actual doctor they told me "that's not how it works." They scheduled me for a colonoscopy but I was unable to meet the doctor before hand. I received a call confirming the procedure but no pre-op information or meds.

My experience is limited only two visits but I strongly feel my choice is right. After a frustrating time with other Gastroenterologists. I went to see Dr. Balba I was impressed, he asked me to redo the endoscopy and colonoscopy although they were only less than a year. Yesterday, I got it done and had excellent report with the photo's and explanation of what I had was given to me. I did suspect some of these things, but now having a proof of it was such a relief.

Dr. Balba is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I am pleased with him as a doctor, but the practice is too big. My condition is complicated and ongoing. I have had to call and leave a message for the nurse, waiting for her to respond, which sometimes happens, sometimes not. There is no way to reach the doctor for follow up information after the appointment. Appointments were always running behind, it took almost 2 hours for my last appointment, which was only 10 minutes with the doctor.
