My Experience was outstanding.
I am 65 years old not one to leave many reviews but my experience with Dr Melgar was so outstanding I wanted to share my story for anyone that may find themself in a similar situation.About a year ago I began to have extreme lower back pain and weakness in my legs and went to my MD who diagnosed me with arthritis. After physical therapy and cortisone shots failed, I was referred to Dr Melgar.Dr. Melgar who after taking and reviewing MRIs said major issue was severe spinal stenosis between my L3 and L4 vertebrae, which is a pinching of the spinal cord and only surgery would be able to correct. The surgery he recommended was called a laminectomy which is placement of what is called a cage around pinched area of the spiral cord, he said outcomes for total recovery this procedure was 75% plus.I was very anxious about the surgery as I have never had any but was in such pain I really didn't have much choice as my next stop was going to be a wheelchair, so I rolled the dice and had surg

Complete Lack of follow up
Severe pain due to a pinched nerve in my back. Was admitted to Memorial hosp and was to have emergent surgery last week. Pain level 10 out of 10 and leg and foot numb. Right before the surgery the PA from their office came in and explained to me that there is better OR equipment at a sister hosp across town and that Dr. Melgar would have a better chance for success utilizing that equip so they discharged me home on meds and then I would be put on the surgery schedule over there “stat”. Ok here I am at home in pain, foot and leg still numb 5 days later. I’m Having to use a walker to get around and I am in horrible pain. Office still has not gotten me on the surgery schedule. I was a fully functioning retired nurse prior to this acute onset. I have excellent insurance and have spoken with the office patient advocate each day and there is no resolution. Horrible care and follow up.

Wonderful Neurologist
Dr Melgar did surgery on me February of this year (2023) and Im thankful that he took care of me.Not only did he take care of me from beginning to end.....he also made calls for me that was above and beyond his duties to get me scheduled for my surgery. Hopefully I wont need another surgery but if I do Im thankful that DR Miguel Melgar is my doc!!!

Thanks, Dr. Melgar.
This is more about my daddy than me. My dad was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer at the end of 2019, and Dr. Melgar was very thorough in the surgeries that my dad needed. A very caring person, indeed. When it felt like my dad wasn't going to make it much longer, he knew what was going on and was able to help. My dad passed away in 2020, but I am grateful for Dr. Melgar for the months that my daddy got to live.

What a worthless doctor, it has been 3 months and I still have to wait 3 more before I even see him! I have done all the test once even twice on some of the X-rays, CT, PT, and pain management and still no doctor! I am in pain every day and do not sleep some nights and he feels it is ok to wait this long. And the CT scan. No results for 6 months, really. Why read them over the weekend? Go to anyone but this doctor! And I put my name on this because they know it is true oh and while at the image diagnosis they told me to have a seat they did not have time for me. Really? I had to call the patient advocate to go to a different one and while waiting the lady call to say she was sorry she was just busy and had a bad day

Saw MD once for about 3 minutes. Lied about examining me, answered no questions, and never explained anything to me. Just said not a good surgical candidate and surgical intervention not needed, but never why. More like because I have Tricare and they pay less

Dr. Melgar is a world class Physician. He removed 100% of my large pituitary tumor which was emitting growth hormones. The surgery and recovery were smooth. He waited for me to wake up after surgery to tell me how it went. I was ready to leave the hospital the next morning. No complications, no pain. Choose him.

Did not follow through with referral as he discussed in his 2 miniutes meeting with patient. Did nothing but have a person in severe pain sit in a chair for 2 hours while waiting for office visit with him. I am sure his billing will not indicate the lack of medical care he failed to provide. His answering service stated no way to page, text, email or contact. Completely do not believe what I was told and completely disappointed.

As an individual he presents him self as kind , very courteous , and just an good honest all around caring person. I selected him to do my brain surgery over other Dr.'S in his office. The results far exceeded the general expations of a positive out come. I can honestly say I live because of Gods grace and Dr. Melgar developed skills. The only issue for me is his office ,at best it a mess. The Dr. can only do so much;deeply depends upon his office staff. Office needs a lot of help.

Inordinately long wait in the Office, nearly 2 hours beyond my appointment time. He was rushed, cut me off when I asked questions and I left the office feeling ignored, I asked to be referred to another Neurosurgeon. He did review my films and referred me to Pain Management for further diagnostic workup. THAT was very helpful

Dr. Miguel Melgar literally saved my life! I was sent to him by Workman's Comp. after being injured at work. Not only did he discover 8 bad disk , that were injured. He found that I had a Abominable Aortic Aneurysm , which he had fixed . He did the surgery to 3 disc in my neck and I was immediately relived of the pain in my arm. I also was able to use my arm and feel my fingers again. I still have 2 more surgeries to go on my back and Dr. Melgar's going to do them. I can';t say praise this man e
