Absolutely the best
Dr. Strunc was our daughters neurologist for 9 years. He is the absolute best. When her seizures advanced, he did everything humanly possible to figure it all out. Even when he was away teaching he stayed informed and helped her. The best appointment was when he sat amazed when our daughter who is Autistic and low verbal started exploring his naval ribbons. This was a first and he was so amazed and just watched her. He was so caring and involved. We moved so we had to say goodbye but he will always be the best. He is very knowledgeable, always explained things, never talked over our heads, great personality. Our daughter does not warm up to people she doesn’t feel comfortable around. She felt comfortable with him.

Caring, compassionate, understanding - and funny!
Dr. Strunc takes the time to listen. He talks to your child, not just you. He makes them feel like their thoughts and feelings matter. He allows them to have a voice in their own care. He's also really funny and can keep serious subjects from being too depressing and heavy. He is also great about discussing care plans with your child's other doctors so everyone is on the same page and your child gets the best care possible.

THIS MAN IS HORRIBLE!!
This so called "doctor" is HORRIBLE!! He's ARROGANT, CONDESCENDING, AND TALKS WAYYY TOO MUCH unnecessarily. He did not listen at all to our concerns and had his preconceived notions about my daughter and I before we even came to the appointment. He kept trying to push a medication on my daughter, and when I expressed concerns over a previous medication (PAXIL) that messed my daughter up, he told us we need to "trust him as the doctor and if we can't do that then we don't need to see him". He ignored my concerns and questions and focused his attention on pushing a medication. DON'T GO TO THIS MAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! Instead, take your child to Children's Hospital of Richmond if you can. We've had a MUCH better experience there with Nurse Practitioner Hearington. CHKD Neurologists are TRASH!!

He has been wonderful to our daughter who is non verbal and very delayed and has considered her needs with great patience , He is resistant to adding medications for what might be helped otherwise and has carefully considered each need as it arose and has saved her from unneeded med increases with insight combined with testing if needed. He always checks on her supply of medications during the visit and if they are needed between visits they came fairly quickly . and I have never had to follow up on a prescription ' . The office wait has never really been long either . She has been seeing him since Dr White retired ( years ) and so far has taken his time with the visits and considers more than just her meds for sure ! He follows up on how SHE is doing overall as well and speaks to her even though she is very vert delayed and doesn't understand most of his words . He usually gets bright eyes or a smile from her and many don't . He is appreciated ,,

Horrible. Basically comes in talking at a fast- pace. He already has an answer before you fully ask a question. Also gets offended when you counteract with research. Dr. Strunc becomes cocky, arrogant, and insulting. It's sad that CHKD has to advertise him. Clearly depending upon if you agree with him, he is very biased when it comes to proper treatment for his patients. He can be very difficult in writing school prescriptions according to school system guidelines. He is not recommended.

Very dismissive and cocky. Interrupted everything I (a woman) said but let my husband speak. Told us our visibly ill, hospitalized child wasn't sick without examining him. His PCM (definitely not a neurologist) seems to have figured out the neurologic issue that is affecting him. Unfortunately, Dr. Strunc's flippant dismissal has made it nearly impossible to get in with neurology to get the help he desperately needs. WORST DOCTOR EXPERIENCE AT CHKD. Do your child a favor and find a different Dr.
