Frustrating Billing/Insurance Followup
At my annual skin check in June, I was surprised I would owe anything for the preventative skin check, no notice prior to the visit that insurance would not be covered (insurance to pay 100%). In follow-up with my insurance company, they had paid more than McGuiness' office stated and I did have a small credit before sending additional information. McGuiness had not included Diagnosis and Primary Procedure Codes and insurance requested I resubmit. Two months of multiple requests for this information from the office, asking for a copy of the bill with the codes, I received a message stating I needed to call the office and request my medical records. I made the call and they have sent an authorization to release form for these records, I have now completed. I too needed to call billing to request they process a credit for the overpayment. I will never go back to McGuiness - too much trouble to get a simple copy of the bill with the correct codes for processing insurance.

Abhorrent experience
My husband and I just had the most abhorrent experience here, one that even his front desk nurse told me she was genuinely shocked by. My husband and I booked three months in advance for 9:15 a.m. today. We waited 90 minutes. We checked in repeatedly; they explained he had a surgery but would be back with us immediately. The waiting room filled and emptied twice while we waited. My husband got called back and could hear Dr. McGuiness go into multiple rooms before his. I then finally got called back. The girl, Julianne or something to that effect, did not acknowledge my wait. 10 minutes later, Dr. McGuiness comes in and apologizes for the wait half-heartedly. I say it's OK, I know things happen, but she should have just acknowledged it. He proceeds to tell me he was told we were late and didn't fill out our paperwork. I was shocked. That was an absolute lie - we were early and did our online paperwork days ago! I told him this and he insinuated I was lying, so we left.

Dr. McGuiness does the most thorough exam for skin cancer's of any dermatologist I have ever seen. He truly cares and guides his patients. I feel very safe that if there is anything suspicious, he will recognize it or find it while there is still time to address the issue. Highly recommend this doctor.

Office Staff is disorganized and low levels of therapeutic competence amongst clinical staff. McGuiness business model appears to be open a lot of offices and staff with PA’s. Very few MD’s available and they are not in Prosper. Coordinating care is non-existent. If you need medical treatment, I would seek elsewhere. That said, they may be seeking quick turn non-medical issues that don’t require advanced medical training. Chris Blansett

This review is for the Anna, Tx office. I went in because I was concerned about a few areas on my skin. I saw Amy Jones, PA and I was so pleased with my treatment. She was very professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. She thoroughly explained my treatment options. I was so impressed with her skills that I returned to see her a couple weeks later for Botox. Highly recommend Amy Jones, PA to anyone needing dermatology treatments.

I was referred to Dr. McGuiness by a family member and so happy about it. I drive over an hour to go to their office from Fort Worth because no one else compares when it comes to all over skin cancer checks. Dr. McGuiness is so knowledgeable and takes time to understand concerns and be thorough. I can't recommend him and his staff enough.

My family has been going to Dr. McGuiness for several years. I think he must be getting too well known or something. The last time I visited I sat in the waiting room for an hour and fifteen minutes before I finally told them I couldn't wait any longer. And this was an early morning appointment. The only thing the office staff could offer was that they were trying to get in touch with my insurance carrier. They had never had any problem like this before, so that seemed rather lame.
