Disappointed
Prior doctor at this practice retired. He was attentive and helpful. I have continual problems with my knee from a long ago car accident and will at some point have a replacement. Dr McCollum basically had a PA/NP give me a cortisone shot the first visit. The second visit he looked at me through the door and said, Are you here for a cortisone shot? I supposed I was so said yes, but he never came back and the same PA/NP gave me a shot and that was that. I haven’t been back due to the feeling I got of a lack of care.

I took my wife for a first appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon for her knee pain. Referral was made by PCP. Staff was extremely nice, polite, respectful and courteous. X-rays were made and we waited. Dr. McCullom walked in and said "Hi, I'm Dr. McCullom (as he sat down) and I GLANCED at the x-rays". This told me from the start, he did not have the patients care at heart. He assumed he was going to get another surgery out of my wife (he bragged he had already done 9 this week) and proceeded to tell her they were going to give her cortisone shots for her knee pain. He did not do a thorough physical examination of her knees, he did not bring the x-rays in to show her or explain to her what the problem was. He did not give her a diagnosis of anything but plainly stated that she needed to have both knees replaced at some point but would give the Cortisone shots today as he stood up and grabbed the door knob to go out of the room. I stopped him from leaving and told him that I was paying for an orthopedic surgeons expert opinion regarding the condition of my wives' knees and where the pain was coming from. Hesitantly, he sat back down and with an attitude answered all of our questions like I was pulling his teeth out. The office staff and the nurses were great, however, Dr. McCollum has no bedside manners and makes you feel just like a number.....more like a $ number. We are getting a second opinion with a surgeon who actually looks at the x-rays and not glances at them. I do NOT reccomend Dr. McCollum!

Very good experience. He repaired a fracture below my left knee and did very well. He used a piece of bone and metal to repair where I had a piece of bone missing because of a fall. He is very friendly and answered all my questions.
