Dr. Michael McCollum, MD

I am 20 years in remission but Dr. McCollum treats me the same as my first visit.

My appointments with Dr. McCollum and his staff are always timely, care is provided with kindness and courtesy.

Dr. McCollum is an excellent Dr. he explains everything about the procedure that needs to be done and all the results and all the treatments that is needed to help fight Cancer. Due to a family emergency I had to move to a different state and wasn't getting the care that I need from my new Oncologist it was very hard to get him to do the necessary tests that I needed. I tried to find another Oncologist that was close, in the city that I lived in, but it was hard to find another oncologist due to Dr. shortage in the area and I would have to travel a long distance to another oncologist. I decided to move back to Virginia because I knew that I would get the best care that I needed from Dr. McCollum. I am glad that my first visit back as Dr. McCollum patient was a really good visit, he understood my concerns about my health and assured me that he will run all the tests that is needed, and I do not have anything to worry about.

He told me what I need to know and gave me my options and didn't try to sway me in one direction or the other. He was understanding and completely professional.

Since my first visit with Dr. McCollum in April 2023, his and his staff have had a wonderful bedside manner, they are easy to talk to and ask questions. Very nice group to work with.

Dr. McCollum is an amazing doctor. He is extremely knowledgeable. He explains everything in understandable language. I was calm and had no fear with him in charge of my treatment of cancer. Plus he has a kind bedside manner. His staff is wonderful. I feel extremely blessed to have Dr. McCollum as my doctor.

Dr. McCollum has grown on me since our first appointment. He was speaking to me in medical terms that weren't clear to me. Now that I understand what he says, I am very happy with my relationship with Dr. McCollum.

Compassionate and professional

I was treated with respect and compassion. All were pleasant, patient, and attentive to my needs. I loved receiving the folder with pertinent information given to new patients. It kept me from feeling stress. All contact calls to guide me through pre-surgery to after surgery were succinct. I am grateful, thankful, and blessed that you were in charge of my medical care.

Dr McCollum did my surgery but since then I have seen his PA. She is wonderful. Makes me feel comfortable while there for my exam.

I arrived before my scheduled visit and waited a short time before I was taken back to the exam room. Kristen, his PA, explained the results of the AT scan I was given which I was very thankful for.The visit was smooth and not a lot of time was wasted waiting.

Went in for my yearly checkup

Short wait to see the PA. Very quick with pap smear and asked if I had any problems and listen to what I had to say.

When I was first diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer by my general practitioner I was devastated. The next day I had my first appointment with Dr. McCollum. He explained, in detail, how he would handle my situation. My husband, daughter and I went home feeling reassured that Dr. McCollum had everything under control. That was 4 years ago.....and I'm still here and feeling fantastic. Dr. McCollum is very straight forward, he doesn't sugar coat or give false hope, which for me, is what I wanted. With the help of him and his fantastic team, I was encouraged to stay positive and felt supported every step of the way.

Dr. McCollum is a skilled, compassionate Gynecologic Oncologist who provides individualized care and gets results. He and his medical team do an outstanding job treating women of all ages.

I have been going to Dr. McCollum for 5 years now and he is an absolutely wonderful physician. I am so very happy and blessed that he is my surgical oncologist! He has a very nice personality, is patient, gentle, and always answers all my questions and concerns (which are usually numerous) without getting annoyed.
