Poor care
Said my fiance had a cyst on his kidney during a visit for an mri, ordered an ultrasound for my kidney. Then he refused to give him the results as to if it was a tumor or cancerous. He just said to go to a primary care doctor to get the results. But he is the one who ordered the ultrasound in the first place!!! Was really rude within our communication via mychart and basically told my fiance(in writing) it was not his problem if he had cancer or not.

Totally ruined my back with mis-placed rods and screws. Mayo Clinic removed and fixed my back. They were not happy with what they saw. Screw was into spin column, loose and wearing away bone.

In Oct.,2019, Dr. Kasten and his staff performed approximately 14 hours of surgery over 2 days on me. I had a sagittal imbalance which made me unable to walk erect, thus I was always bent at a 90 degree angle. The imbalance was caused by a prior back surgery in Sept. of 2018, by a Grand Rapids surgeon. Also complicating the procedure was my Muscular Dystrophy disease. Dr. Kasten was very frank about the risks involved and the success factor. I am very ecstatic to report that my surgery was a complete success and I can walk perfectly erect thanks to Dr. Kasten and his team. I am forever grateful that this man gave me my quality of life back.

This Man is a gift from God. He gave me my life back. I couldn't walk 200 feet with going face down in pain. I had to have 10 levels of vertebrae fused and three 10 inch rods screwed to my spine. Up an walking the next day without pain for the first time in decades. Pretty much back to somewhat of a normal life at 59 yrs old. I highly recommend Dr Kasten if your back is FUBAR. He is the Man!

I had an excellent experience. Both of my surgeries went very well. I am finally walking upright and my pain is much relieved from that I experienced prior to surgery. Dr. Kasten explained everything he was going to do and why. He answered all of my questions prior to surgery and made no promises that things would be perfect but assured me that he felt he could help me and he did.

He didn't listen to my symptoms or concerns about them. Talked over me when I tried to ask questions. Told me that I will be in pain for the rest of my life and there is nothing he could do about it. I had significant changes in symptoms but he said it wasn't important that my back pain went from 1-2 to 7 on a near daily basis.
