Great Endocronologist
Best endocrinologist, hands down! Understands & knows latest research and was able to explain (dumb down) my liver condition into what it really is: a metabolic condition. Had I met him years prior, it would have saved my health. I’m on my road to recovery now and I highly recommend his advice and guidance. Is he blunt? Yes. If you’re looking for a doctor to sugar-coat and comfort you, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for a doctor than can change your health for the better, he’s your guy!

I have been a patient of Dr. Michael Duben for over seven years. He is an expert in his field (endocrinology) which I feel is the most important quality in a doctor. In addition to being highly qualified, he is professional and very thorough, exploring different aspects of my condition and treatment. He has also communicated with my primary care physician to monitor my health. His many other qualities include kindness, caring and patience. He is able to explain a medical situation in simple, down to earth terms, and he is never too busy to answer questions. I trust him implicitly with my health.

Dr.Duben is wonderful and the best endocrinology doctor I have ever consulted. He explained on how to take care of diabetes for the long term and suggested dietary changes. He always listens to my questions, concerns and answers my questions. My diabetes is under full control now and I am happy with the treatment suggested by Dr.Duben. Dr office staff are courteous and helpful.

Dr. Duben has helped to regulate my blood sugar so I don't need to take insulin shots 3 times a day. I was going to an endocrinologist who gave me a chart to follow and said to take an insulin injection before each meal, which didn't work. My blood sugar was still in the 300's with the injections. When I went to Dr. Duben, he told me the chart was not a good way to regulate my blood sugar. So I did what he told me and now my blood sugar is in the 100's with no insulin injections. I am so very happy to have found a good endocrinologist that I can trust. Robert Toth

There was an extended wait time (pre-covid) to enter into what may well have been a 45 minute infomercial on bariatric surgery. My file was not referenced once in the visit. My questions, concerns, or thoughts on treatment were entirely disregarded. His tone was condescending and his overall flow of thought was extremely patronizing and highly fatphobic when combined with as he described bariatric surgery as being the only and best option, a health cure all that my insurance covered. It was my first and last visit. Even if I had wanted bariatric surgery, which is not something my body could tolerate with a compromised immune system, I would not have returned.

Dr. Duben is awesome. He can be tough but it’s for your own good. His main concern is getting you healthy. I struggled for 5 years with Diabetes, cholesterol issues & thyroid issues. I couldn’t get my blood sugar under control, was on long acting & short acting insulin, also a statin for the cholesterol. Dr. D referred me to a Bariatric surgeon for gastric bypass. At first I was a little insulted because my highest weight was only 208 lb & in my mind only morbidly obese people got gastric bypass. After about 6 months, I finally listened to him. I am now 1 yr since my bypass. Within a day after surgery my blood sugar normalized. It was like magic. I never took insulin or a statin again after 1 day post op (amazing). A year later I am down to 130 lb, my A1C is 5.5 & my cholesterol levels are good. If Dr. D didn’t help me, I would probably be really sick right now, had a stroke or worse. Listen to Dr. D, be compliant, the worse that can happen is you become healthy. ??

I saw Dr Duben a few years ago for my diabetes, he is the worst doctor I have ever had. He talked to me like I was an idiot and he was very degrading and made me feel awful about myself and the first thing he said to me is that I need weight loss surgery, didn't care how I felt at all. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!!!

I have hypothyroidism and had been using Dr. Duben for regular monitoring of my levels. While his bedside manner (or lack thereof) left much to be desired, he was fine for the routine appointment. Long story short, a protruding nodule led me to have my gland removed (Duben recommended 1/2 the gland, surgeon said entire thing. And thank God he did.) and pathology came back as cancer. Duben had never even recommended an updated biopsy in all the time I was seeing him; last one was 6 years old. His recommended treatment plan post diagnosis was extremely antiquated (said thyrogen shots were 'logistical nightmare'; Yale doc said it's been standard practice for last 10 years) and his condescending and nonchalant tone during my follow up appointment with him left me leaving his office in tears and immediately getting a referral to a specialist at Yale. Would NOT recommend him for anything other than routine monitoring of levels. Should have listened to other reviews.

Dr Duben was very abrupt with me and weirdly competitive when I mentioned the NHS. "Why is it good?" Me: "It's egalitarian." He: (as if I am an idiot who cannot formulate her own opinions) "That doesn't mean it is good." Further, while he did explain that the size of my largest thyroid nodule comprises what is called a goiter, he really had me trembling the whole time. He raised his voice, was arrogant, called me m'am and when I asked him not to he said he was just showing respect. It seemed more like he was trying to make me feel as ill at ease as possible and disrespect me. He wanted us to part ways when I told him his absurd "probable" diagnosis on my swallowing problem was "anxiety". I haven't even had my endoscopy yet!! My gastroenterologists haven't said that to me! He was so offended by the word "ridiculous" he wanted me to leave. What an awful doctor! I am also grieving the death of my mother.

"Dr. Dubin" is one of the worst "Doctor's " I have ever encountered. He has no people/patients skills whatsoever. I am so appalled by his attitude and lack of compassion for his patients. I wouldn't even bring my dog to see him. Just want other patients to be aware.
