Saved my daughter's life
Dr DiLuna saved my daughter's life. After several, yes several, years and several doctors failed to diagnose her brain tumor, we arrived at Yale scared beyond what words can reveal. Dr DiLuna had already seen her scan and said to me, "...I know what it is and I'm going in to get it out...". And, he did just that. The confidence he exuded was comforting and reassuring. Never did I question the hands that my daughter's brain was entrusted to. Let's talk precision of those hands as well. 12 years later and absolutely NO REGROWTH. Dr DiLuna is our hero.

Beware
Do NOT let this man operate on your child. It will always be my biggest regret as a parent. We were in a traumatic situation and Dr. DiLuna was confident he could do the surgery - he was grossly wrong. My son’s entire life went on a different trajectory after Dr. DiLuna. I will never let him lay a hand on my son again. I wish in that type of situation Yale had recommended seeking other opinions. Things were time sensitive but we are close enough to NYC that someone with a heart would have directed two distraught parents that they had other options. Awful surgeon, awful man

My advice to someone considering DiLuna for their child's neurosurgery would be to seek a second opinion before making any decisions. DiLuna recommended bilateral squamosal suture (SQS) release surgery for our 10 month old son. He warned us that kids that do not have the sutures released are likely to develop developmental delays. We sought 2nd and 3rd opinions from two other top pediatric neurosurgeons. Independently of one another, they both reported that our son does NOT need surgery. He has positional plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome) that does not cause brain damage or interfere with development. Furthermore, one of the doctor's expressed concern that any neurosurgeon would recommend operating in our son's case. Additionally, we had an all-around troubling experience with the Yale New Haven Pediatric Surgery team. We are fortunate that we found two terrific pediatric neurosurgeons, who far and away treated us with more care, consideration, and timely communication than DiLuna.

Dr. Diluna has very good bed side manners. Dealing with a chronic condition requires a doctor that you can trust and rely on. From my encounter with him, I can tell you that he looks out for his patients, and does his best to give you medical advice backed by several research.
