An Amazing Surgeon
In February this 75 year old women tripped and fell in a parking lot fracturing my left hip. Rushed to the trauma center at Mercy Hospital, through the luck of the draw, Dr Matthew Shirley was assigned to my case. He immediately put me at ease and assured me that everything would be fine. He did a full anterior hip replacement with a minimal incision. What impressed me the most was the manner in which he put me at ease, came to check me each day at the hospital. I never saw a PA. He personally saw me at every post surgical visit. He’s also easy on the eyes.

Amazing Doctor
Dr. Shirley is an amazing doctor. Met him when my mom was admitted for a broken femur. He was so warm welcoming and sincerely caring bout her well being. He is personal and caring. Checked on her every am with a beautiful smile which makes anyone feel comfortable and not just a number. My mother is 75 years old and is doing well after her surgery thanks to Dr. Shirley. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a caring and professional doctor.

AMAZING
Saw Dr. Shirley after after provider had to cancel surgery due to a personal reason. I was a bit nervous going in, however Dr. Shirley brought me in so that I had a chance to meet with him. I was beyond blown away with his attentiveness and how he spoke with & to me. He was so detailed with his plan of care regarding my knee replacement surgery, and even answered everyone of my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Shirley to anyone and everyone who is looking for a super attentive provider who does beyond amazing work. So grateful to him and giving me back my daily functions and abilities minus all the pain. Thank you Dr. Shirley for everything and I look forward to you replacing my another knee next!

Top Notch
Dr. Shirley assisted with my surgical care, especially post surgery. I couldn’t recall the medication schedule for four separate prescriptions. He came to me and laid out a very clear schedule for each, and explained what each did. Also, what to look for as problems. It worked great! I could easily track which medication to take when. From that point, I progressed quickly and felt so much better. It was a shrewd observation on his part, and he stepped in and made a big difference. Many thanks to a conscientious and caring surgeon.

Excellent Surgeon who really cares
Dr. Shirley met me when I came in with an infected knee replacement. He took me to the operating room, removed my infected knee and put in a temporary knee that felt better and functioned better than my initial knee! After I finished my antibiotics and cleared my infection, he took me back to the operating room about 3 months later to take out my temporary knee and put in a new knee. I am 5 months out from surgery and loving it so far. I have been able to play with my grandkids, get back to pickleball and travel with my husband again. Thanks Dr. Shirley for giving me my life back!

After TKR he sent me home with pain killers that did not work. He refused to try something else and told me to suck it up. Essentially I had only pre op pain killers which did not control pain. So from day 2 on I had no pain control which caused other problems. No empathy, accused me of lying, rude, told me not to call again, never answered my portal emails and questions.Written and verbal instructions different. This was a living hell. 2 ER visits later the team prescribe something for nausea! I had to research pain meds and tell them what to do. Wrong occupation Dr Shirley! It didn't have to be this way and no other human should have to go thru what he put me thru. I do not recommend this person what so ever.
