Appalling Treatment by staff and MD
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Hurley for 15 years. For the first 7 or 8 years, my experiences with her office staff were mediocre and my experiences with Dr. Hurley were great. In more recent years, the quality of the staff and Dr. Hurley’s care and advice has drastically decreased. So much so, that I am changing to a different doctor. If you are reading these reviews while considering whether to choose Dr. Hurley, I would highly advise against it. Just to give you a small taste of my experience, I have been forced to deal with her rude and very incompetent nurses and other office staff on numerous occasions. Dr. Hurley is 100% unreachable if you are not sitting in front of her at an appointment. Also, they have made multiple prescription medication mistakes that have resulted in weeks without my necessary maintenance medications. Overall, the treatment I’ve received has been appalling as well as dangerous considering their many mistakes and lack of competence or care.

Poor service
The staff is very rude. Calls are not returned. The wait times are ridiculous once you get in the office. Finally had enough after 20. I was turned away for being 20 minutes late to my appointment and they would not see me. I called to tell them I would be late and I was on hold forever and hung up on. I showed them this and I still was not seen. They blonde office manager went back and asked Dr. Hurley herself if she would see me and she said no. 10 years ago this was a good doctors office. Today they don’t about the patient.

Dr did not detect my gastro disease years ago. Told me to take OTC meds. Years later, doctor failed to remind family member (aged 50+) to get YEARLY mammograms. My family member was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. First occasion could have been seen as an oversight but now this is a pattern. Your job as a general doctor is to remind patients to get their annual tests done, even if you do not offer them at your clinic!

Do not care about patient
I have been going to this doc. for years and I thought she was the nicest person because of the smile and conversation during the visit. However, when a health issue came up that she over looked without giving me the proper care and attention led to an attitude and rudeness that I didn’t know she had. I saw the real Dr. Hurley when a health issue can up and then she brushed it off like it was nothing and referred me to another doctor. She didn’t apologize for not noticing the problem but she did say she knew it was something but didn’t know it was that bad. Like really , you knew it was something. People don’t be fooled with the smile because I wasted years and time going to this doc. To later find out she didn’t care. I’m only telling this story because I thought she was the best doc. In Tennessee. But run if you are looking for a doc. That really care about your health and treat you well when there is an health issue.

Some of the office staff are unprofessional & mean to customers. This Dr DOES NOT care about people without Insurance! So it’s ALL about how much $ she can get instead of a person’s sickness! I can’t afford $450 a month insurance but I can afford an office visit. MOST DRs have self pay because they care about treating peoples illnesses! THIS 1 DOES NOT!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Hurley for years because I needed a GP for when I get sick - not huge medical issues-wise. Wait times are long, but I don’t think it’s her fault. My entire family has seen her at some point or another. She’s helped with everything from colds and sinus troubles to bigger issues. I give her 3-stars for the wait. I’ve called in the beginning of the year to get a physical for work, and according to her staff, she wasn’t taking ‘Wellness Visits’ until September. Her bedside manner could use a little work as well. I told her ver batim what was wrong with me after experiencing some pretty intense symptoms and she kept insisting it was something else. Had to get a second opinion to let me know I was right all along. She is also really into the next fad diet trend and will recommend it regardless of your issue. For colds, sinuses, strep and flus she’s great though!

Dr. Mary Hurley is a wonderful primary care physician, with a warm, compassionate manner. Yes, you can wait a long, long time, but when she's with you, you will never feel rushed. Her staff is pleasant and does their best to assist. Sometimes prescription refills through a pharmacy can lag, but overall, the quality and expertise of diagnosis and care make up for any minor niggles in operations. I switched from my primary care doctor some 8 years ago because, even after 20+ years with him, he had no time for me and bought new equipment that I felt I was being forced to use to pay for the purchases. Thank you, Dr. Hurley for your help, understanding, and great smile.

I've been a patient of Dr Hurley's for the last 16 years and wouldn't think of changing doctors for any reason. She has taken excellent care of me, has earned my trust with her spot-on diagnostic skills, and has become a friend as well as my doctor. She is compassionate, takes the time to listen, and she knows her field. She understands her patients better because she takes the time to know and care about them.

Dr. Hurley is one of the best physicians I have experienced and at my age that is a lot. She takes the time to listen to me and explains everything in a way that you can easily understand. She is a compassionate doctor, which is not easy to come by these days, with all of the pressure that is heaped on doctors. I would recommend anyone to her that wants that old time General Practitioner feeling but with Specialized Care. So what if I have to wait my turn, that's true with any doctor.

I would recommend her highly to family and friends. Once you get to see her, she takes time to listen to your concerns. I also appreciate her nurse practitioner who takes the time to get updated information and also listens carefully. Negatives are waiting too long to see Dr. Hurley and not getting things like test results or appointments set up with specialists in a timely manner. Her staff has been friendly and I do not mind waiting- take a book! I will continue going to Dr. Hurley.

She is an amazing physician. She actually listens! The one downside is that she is never on time so take a good book with you. The flip side is that when it is your turn she will take sufficient time with you.

She's lovely and easy to talk to. They usually have same day appointments if you are a patient. The major downside is the wait time. No matter how early you come in, you will wait a minimum of 30 minutes to be seen. I've waited up to 45 min to just have blood drawn.

She may take a little time to see her but she gives you more of her time when she does see you! Very caring, ne'er standing and she actually hears you not just a listener. A remarkable Dr. That saved my lif. No other Dr. I went to caught a rare disorder I have with my stomach. If she doesn't know what's going on she researches it until she finds an answer!
