A miss and room for growth
Very knowledgeable provider but the office staff or nurses, I couldn’t tell which are unprofessional. While going through a crisis it was very clear the situation was amusing to them and there was a lack of accurate information relayed to the provider. The simplest phrase was taken as a mental health concern after that and no real help was received. That’s a barrier to care when messages become lost in a bias and is damaging to provider and patient relationship. Without appropriate information being received it’s difficult for the provider to actually know how to help their patient. 3 stars instead of 5 because I was ignored when I asked for the provider to address the lack of understanding and poor communication.

She genuinely listens to her patients. She is very kind and knowledgeable at what she does. I was worried before going to her that someone wouldn’t listen, but not only does Dr. Lowthert listen, she takes in to account what the patients say. She also does her research on her patients to help know what the best route is whether it is through medication or therapy.

It was alarming to realize she doesn’t understand that pathological lying exists. She doesn’t seem to understand how exposure to certain types of trauma in childhood creates a situation of acceptance in adulthood. Treating people like they fit into a category or giving people a “this looks like this” diagnosis is very damaging and she lacks the ability to change her mind when her patient explains her error.

Dr. Lowthert is the best psychiatrist we have ever seen. We have met with many and most of them just care about there agenda. She is the best. She has helped my son more in a few months than anyone has done in years.
