My brother had a Wonderful experience. Dr Speer fixed a bad rotator cuff problem that a different surgeon had messed up. 7 years later, I went in with rotator cuff injury from crutches, 3 years surgeries ankle problems. Dr Speer was kind, efficient. Until I asked a question and he became immediately angry. Fast forward to surgery recovery room where he blurted What did you Do? The tear had increased between mri and surgery. Post op I only saw his PA. When I did see him 3 months postop I told him my shoulder hurt, wasn’t improving despite my PT efforts and that it made terrible sounds squeaking, popping, grinding sounds. He grunted and said it needed more time. Come back in 2 months. Never moved my shoulder around. My PT also said work harder, more often. So I did but progress began to reverse. I finally saw a specialist PT who wrote a note which I sent to Dr Speer. He ordered MRI. Results showed Massive full tear. He yelled at me and said it was unfixable. Do Not Recommend !

Dr. Speer performed shoulder replacement surgery on my right shoulder in 2018. He is the best shoulder surgeon in the country. He was thorough and his staff handled my follow up appointments with expertise. I researched Dr. Speer thoroughly and found that he treated two physicians that I know. When I found out he was a physician’s physician, that settled it for me. Five years post surgery, my shoulder is like new l

Best doctor in the state
Dr. Speer has amazing bedside manner and he honestly cares about the well being of his patients. His nursing staff are some of the best I've experienced and he is the only doctor I'd ever go to for any shoulder issues.

After searching for a year on finding a really good shoulder Doctor, and hearing so many good things on Dr. Speer, then being referred by my regular physician, I decided and felt he was the Doctor for me. So glad I did. I am recovering really well. And very pleased with his work and how well I'm doing. His whole staff is Awesome! I would certainly recommend him to anyone with shoulder issues. I had a complete shoulder replacement. I'm very, very pleased!

I was greatly disappointed with my outcome with Dr Speer. I suffered an AC separation and despite a great experience the day of surgery (at duke hospital), great staff and nurses, etc., the surgery itself later failed. Pain, popping, and cracking post surgery worsened every month, and the in-house PT at Southeastern was useless (I've since received FAR better PT at competing shoulder clinics). My biggest gripe was the sheer amount of times I had to see him to PROVE his surgery failed.

From my search to find the best surgeon thru the preliminary visit with Dr. Kevin Speer I felt a complete trust. From the pre-op thru the surgery and recovery I never had a moment of concern or fear. He and his solid team is in place to ensure the surgery was a complete success. The op notes and follow up instructions are clear and well written. Excellence is the only word to use!

This physician spends all his time looking at & typing on his computer instead of looking up at his patient. He would not hear me when I told him my shoulder was infected following a rotator cuff surgery. I ended up in the hospital with another surgery & an IV for the infection. I suffered significant muscle with my ball joint pushing over the top of the socket & The inability to raise my arm above my waist, in addition to significant pain. Now have to have reverse joint replacement.

I went to Dr Speer for shoulder pain. After an X-ray he diagnosed a tendon bicep tear and shoulder bone spurs. He thoroughly explained my problem and options. He performed the surgery a year ago. After a few weeks of put, I was back to normal. I highly recommend him to anyone who has shoulder pain.

Dr. Speer is the absolute best. I had a 'massive' tear in my rotator cuff, and a detached bicep. Told I'd be lucky to comb my hair again, not so. I'm now playing tennis again!!! Very professional, day of surgery was absolutely the best. He's very polite, you'll see him every visit except the pre-surgery appointment, actually removes stitches himself! If you're in need of shoulder surgery, and want prompt, professional, no nonsense service, Dr. Kevin Speer is the man to see.

Dr. Speer explains clearly the diagnosis; the recommended course of action and your options; and the prognosis........we find him to be straight forward, thorough, and precise. I would highly recommend Dr. Speer to anyone having shoulder issues. We have had 2 shoulder surgeries performed by Dr, Speer, both were successful. His staff is very professional, and the post op follow up is exacting. I have full trust in this gentleman.

first of all dr. speer was highly recommended by pre surgery staff when I had a procedure done 2 yrs ago. I had a total shoulder replacement on 3-21-16. on my first dr visit 2 weeks after surgery I was surprised at how well I was doing. I am using dr speer's therapist and that also is going very well. I might add that I followed drs instructions exactly. I would highly recommend dr speer's and his staff for anything you need done to your shoulder.

Originally went to Dr. Speer for a second opinion after being told I needed a full shoulder replacement. He assured me that he could repair the problem with arthroscopic surgery. It was successful and I returned to yoga within 8 weeks. Two years later returned to Dr. Speer with opposite shoulder problem. Did not hesitate and feel second shoulder surgery is progressing well. He explains and answers questions. You see him before you enter surgery and right after he has finished. He is excellent.
