The office was great to work me in on a Friday afternoon when I was diagnosed with shingles in my eye. The office staff are all nice and efficient. The dr. offers no compassion and seems uninterested in the patient. Although there were not yet any blisters on the surface of my eye, there were blisters on the rim and it was only day 2 of the rash. He instructed me to call the on call doctor over the weekend if I needed drops. I'm not a doctor, but what were the chances that the rash wasn't going to my eye from the blisters on the rim? The on call doc called in an Rx for drops for me, but he also seemed bothered by the whole thing... I'll be doing my follow-up exam elsewhere and I cannot recommend this doctor.

I have been with him for over 10 years. The practice is getting poor, the service is very poor. Go somewhere else.

Dr. Karren didn't take time to explain the surgery to me but later claimed he did.  His staff tried not show their impatience with one more Medicare cataract patient but did not disguise it well.  I used my Medicare option for a second opinion and found a much better place to have the surgery and the second place was considerably less expensive so I was able to afford a more involved surgery than the basic one.  I've heard that Karren is a decent surgeon but I would NOT recommend him based on my

Dr. Karren does not diagnose children's eye conditions accurately or adequately. We trusted him to diagnose and help our child at the age of 2 at the recommendation of a pediatrician and he diagnosed him as "fine" and to bring him back in in a year. We did so, eye condition still happening, and again Dr. Karren said that his eyesight was "fine" and nothing could be done. I sought a second opinion luckily. Turns out there is plenty to be done to help him see and his diagnosis was completely wrong
