Dr. Kenneth Hawthorne, MD

Dr Hawthorne performed a total hip replacement on my left leg on January 9, 2024. During surgery, my femoral nerve was damaged and one year later my left leg is still numb from my thigh to my ankle, and I have trouble now with walking, climbing stairs, my balance is terrible and apparently this neurological condition may never go away.

I have seen Dr. Hawthorne once for right knee pain, knowing I would be needing a knee replacement, and sudden onset of left leg sciatica due to physical stress. He was very kind and explained the new Visionaries assisted surgery procedure. This is November and because the surgery could not be scheduled until Feb. 2025, he gave a cortisone injection in my right knee, and lower back to help with the sciatica. Both of these injections have helped immensely . I am not sure why some reviewers have been so judgmental of this physician. I saw none of the negativity they refer to. He was very warm and took time to answer questions. They got me in within a few days of my call and the staff is very cordial and helpful.

Dr. Kenneth Hawthorne did my surgical knee replacement in July 2023, and I cannot give enough good reviews for him. He is skilled in his craft, using the latest technology and I had no complications. I followed an online knee surgery group and saw a lot of horror stories from other surgeons, but my experience was not like that. Dr. Hawthorne uses the latest technology and the surgery goes smoothly. Also, his office staff is very responsive and you never wait for your appointment - he is always on time. Just come prepared with your questions as he is efficient about moving through patients in order to stay on time.

I have been seeing Dr. Hawthorne for several years now and can attest that Dr. Hawthorne is not only an awesome doctor, he is also an incredible surgeon. I have been receiving knee injections from Dr. Hawthorne in my attempt to postpone the inevitable – knee replacement surgery. More about that another time. On Father’s Day weekend 2023, I felt a momentary sharp pain in my right shoulder. Having felt a similar pain in my past, I assumed what I had done. I put off seeing Dr. Hawthorne until July. After the CT, the official diagnosis was, “retracted full-thickness, full width re-tear of the supraspinatus tendon and, retracted full-thickness near full-width tear of the infraspinatus tendon”. In laymen’s terms, I tore my rotator cuff – again. The surgery (not arthroscopic) was addressed in mid-August. I started in-home PT 3-days after the surgery (arranged by Dr. Hawthorne’s office). In-home PT continued for 3-weeks. I am currently in outpatient PT doing the work to re-gain both my strength, and my range of motion (also arranged by Dr. Hawthorne’s office). By the way, I have a tattoo on the shoulder where the surgery was done. Without exaggeration, you would not be able to tell that I had surgery if I did not tell you. The point of incision is barely visible. Dr. Hawthorne is a man of few words. He’ll give you the facts to help you to decide the next steps, without the glitter. When you are ready, you can move forward with him and trust that he will do a great job. I trust him. As soon as I have completed PT and have fully recovered from rotator cuff surgery, I will be scheduling with Dr. Hawthorne to get my knees done, one after the other. I highly recommend Dr. Hawthorne and his team.

Dr. Hawthorne does not waste your time. He is direct and to the point. He tells you what the problem is and how to fix it.. He then lets YOU decide if you want to proceed rather than trying to talk you into any procedure.

OUTSTANDING!! From the moment I met Dr. Hawthorne, to my latest follow-up appointment, EVERYthing about this operation, (pun intended), has been EXCEPTIONAL!!! Having had right knee replacement in 2013, I dreaded having my left done. My previous experience, performed in Orlando, was one of the worst physical situations I’ve ever been through. But WOW!!! What a difference with Dr. Hawthorne. I was taking steps before I even left the hospital!! I went home right away – no overnight stay – where I was met by Physical Therapy. My nurse came the following day. Even my pain level was far more tolerable, compared to the right knee. I was amazed at how I could endure the pain and use the walker for short trips around my kitchen island, by day 2! My last recovery stole so much time from me, but with this one, I am walking without a cane, and have only occasional discomfort: all within 4 months. (And while everyone heals at different rates, and 4 months may seem like a long time for some, I heal

I had both knees replaced in two separate surgeries and each went smoothly due to Dr Hawthorne’s office and surgical team. He is the best orthopedic surgeon around and has excellent office and surgical team!

Dr. Hawthorne is an excellent surgeon. He performed a full knee replacement on me in July. I had very little pain and have full range of motion in my new knee after six weeks. The office staff is wonderful also.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Hawthorne. He replaced both of my knees. Before, I had trouble walking and experience a great deal of pain. Dr. Hawthorne was very good with the surgery and recovery process. Now, I am completely free of pain, and can walk and stand without any problems. He is the best!

After observing many friends and neighbors getting total knee replacements I am always grateful that I chose Dr. Hawthorne to do both of my knees. My recovery has been easy and complete, and I have always felt to be in the best hands. I got lucky when I chose my Smith Nephew Knee and then read in the paper that that is the knee that Dr. Hawthorne uses. Only the best knee for the best doctor! It was also very encouraging when the nurses in the hospital informed me that Dr. Hawthorne is rated one of the top surgeons in the nation!

Excellent: I had both hips replaced 10 months apart by Dr. Hawthorne. Dr. Hawthorne is very professional and very interested in my successful results before and after my surgeries. His office staff and the one intern I met were and are very nice and welcoming. I walked in for an unscheduled and unexpected need to visit shortly after the last surgery. I saw Dr. Hawthorne immediately I was assured what was going on was very minor and would not impact my recovery; it didn't and I walked out of there calm and happy. I have full confidence in him and his staff without any hold backs. I know I'll feel disappointed at my final appointment knowing I'll probably not see them again. Besides being the best hip replacement surgeon, I saw in Dr. Hawthorne a very nice man with a gentle sense of humor. His staff is the same way.

Total knee replacement. Dr. Hawthorne always professional and answered all my questions. So happy with my new knee. Back on the pickleball courts in less than 3 mos!!

I highly recommend Dr. Hawthorne as an Orthopedic physician and surgeon. His knowledge and skill are commendable. At age 75 it was not easy anticipating total hip replacement. Dr. Hawthorne's explanations were thorough and to the point. He always took the time to answer questions, and I never felt rushed. I also found the staff in the office to be positive and supportive. Most importantly, at the four month mark, following Dr. Hawthorne's directions and his recommended physical therapy, I'm pain free, resuming my normal activities, and look forward to mountain hikes in the future. 5 Stars! He’s replaced both knees and repaired my rotator cuff in the last 7 years. Second knee just a few months ago.he and his staff have been amazing. When I’ve had issues they were always able to see me right away. Both he and his staff have always been there to answer questions, sometimes his responses are brief but always on point and truthful. I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else for orthopedic surgery.

Excellent Dr. had a knee replacement that was fantastic. He uses a minimally invasive technique with a custom computer generated prosthesis.

I waited for months to select a doctor for a hip replacement. I went and received 2nd and 3rd opinions before I selected Dr Hawthorne. Wow, did I select the right doctor. I could not ask for better medical treatment or advice on recovery. My hip replacement was so successful I wish I had done it a year earlier. It healed quickly and I was back playing golf in 5 weeks. Some reviews say he doesn’t talk enough. To that I say ASK questions, and he will answer. Best ortho experience I have ever had. I strongly recommend Dr. Hawthorne for your Orthopedic needs.
