Dr. K Pesaniello, MD

After many years of therapy with her for depression and anxiety I had to discontinue treatment. Neurofeedback was her preferred method of treatment and pushing EMDR was not helping me. Told my GP if I didn’t follow her protocol she would discontinue my treatment. I would have to agree to appts several times a week with neurofeedback and sessions with her. Not practical for be being 45 minutes away. She insisted I be the go between between her and my GP for testing with medications. I should not have been caught in the middle of trying to to get 2 doctors together to discuss my mental health issues. She is very rigid and pushing treatments (neurofeedback) that I was not willing to continue several times a week that I felt was not beneficial. Treatment was her way or the highway.

Honestly I really did not appreciate being extorted into weekly, incessant nuisance (therapy) appointments as a condition of getting the meds that I actually do need, and then being told that I don't have to come to therapy. Get used to dealing with someone who is never accountable when called out, and who excels at speaking out of both sides of her mouth. And if you are a rigid person like I am, be prepared to have that pointed out when it's time to make way for her (apparently invisible) rigidity and have yours held against you. She also told me she did "not want me to think of myself as disabled". Right. Had to learn I was through someone else while she would rather have me believe that all of my social difficulties are the result of being an INFJ, aka glorified horoscope nonsense. Yup let's just not even deal with it. Then the repeated comments like "we've got to get you off these meds" because she would never stop pushing neurofeedback, even though it bombed with me.

Dr. Pesaniello is exceptional. She truly cares about her patients' well-being, both emotional and physical. Further, she reads extensively to identify the newest treatment options and advocates vigorously on my behalf.
