Please Avoid Josh Apple
I had cataract surgery performed by Josh Apple. Following surgery I not only needed glasses for reading (expected) but also for double vision in one eye (a new problem entirely). I was assured that the double vision, which is apparently caused by a paralyzed muscle, couldn't have been caused by the surgery. (It cannot be completely corrected without another surgery.) But for my two year post-surgery visit, I was told that Dr. Apple was no longer with the Eye Center of N. CO. This does not surprise me when I see these reviews! Wherever he is, please avoid him!

Think twice
Excellent bedside manner & may be a skilled surgeon, but in our case, the procedure failed ..We sought a 2nd opinion due to lack of response from his office. That 2nd opinion greatly offended him apparently.. . Red flag.

Excellent surgeon
Both my husband and I have used Dr. Apple. He explains things well and answers questions clearly. My husband had another problem besides cataracts with his eyes, and he quickly referred us to the appropriate doctor to check his other eye problem. It does take some time to get appointments, but that seems to be the case with any doctor now.

I WOULD NOT Recommend Apple to my worst enemy
When you call in you're treated well, They have some caring people there... When I went in it was a mixed bag.. The 1st person to come out was very rude to me and talked over me And the people setting around me noticed this too.. She abruptly left and the next person was the office manager and she was very nice she listened to everything and was very helpful... 3 hours later and only 2 tests I see Apple( I will not call him doctor) He didn't respond to even one of my concerns.. I think he was in there less than 10 minutes and after I'd waited 3 hours... He was rude and talked over me and didn't explain any of the tests.. I was hoping to get a new prescription for glasses he didn't even do that.. I can prove everything I said since Colorado it's legal to tape your conversations and I do especially appointments so I can go back and see what was said... I found out that he had 15 appointments in the hour before me... Seems a little much don't you think.. He has no empathy

Respectful with Good Bedside Manner
Although Dr. Apple is extremely busy, he doesn't seem rushed, answers all my questions thoughtfully, and is respectful in interactions with me. I feel confidence in his assessments and patient care.

Over a weekend a couple years back, I went to the UC Health Emergency Room because of a severe eye issue. The staff there were great, but when they called the Eye Center of Northern Colorado for help (the emergency room does not keep an ophthalmologist on staff), Dr. Apple was on call but refused to see me—telling the emergency room doctor that it was likely just uveitis and to send me home with eye drops. In reality, I had multiple tears to the retina.

Dr. Apple is charming & gifted, but perhaps due to covid and staffing, his staff failed to return at least 6 calls over 5 months - in a desperate plea to reschedule a critical procedure in a timely way. In that period, my beloved parent went blind & while that might have been inevitable, there was always hope. We felt dismissed.
