Lost my leg, bad knee surgery
Lost my leg, bad knee surgery. He did 6 surgeries to try to fix it himself instead of getting wound care, and infection specialist involved. He should have be brought them in after the 2nd surgery did not work.Big Ego

DO NOT TRUST DR POWELL!
DO NOT TRUST DR POWELL! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MYCHART SO YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF WHAT IS WRONG BECAUSE HE SURE WONT TELL YOU! I went to see Dr Powell. He said my x-ray showed nothing and that my knee just needed desensitization. When I got home I checked mychart for my x-ray results and it showed I have swelling in my knee. His response when I messaged him about it? "I recommend you get a 2nd opinion because the swelling has nothing to do with any previous issue." So he lied about my x-ray results and didn't feel the need to investigate further like oh I don't know an MRI!!! After Dr Powell told me that my knee was just "too sensitive", he put in his report on mychart that I have complex regional pain syndrome but how can he get that diagnosis from 1 xray that he claims showed nothing? I had to get my primary doctor to order me an MRI and there is swelling everywhere and my primary doctor has no idea how to help me but knows my knee is bad so she sent me a referral to a new orthopedic

Dr Quigley (My surgeon a few years ago was not available) so I agreed to be seen by Dr Powell. His demeanor made me feel exactly like several mentioned above. Showed little interest in my condition and left the exam room saying “I have another patient to see while you (me) decide on the options.” I will never return to this office. Sorry to have missed you Dr Quigley. Robert

2018 had to have total knee replacement, went many years needing one Dr. Powell did my knee surgery nothing was left to talk about come surgery day all my questions was answered in a way I understood. not much pain quick to get back up on feet. the feel of new knee is the feel of freedom to know I have a knee that's not going to go out and being able to walk distance I could of never done. His staff was great as well. am now on one year and I find it hard to know which knee is which unless I look at the scar Very Happy Thanks Dr Powell from this 66 yr old great grandmother

I was not happy with his bed side manner and the way he talked down to me... he was going to send out a script and he never did ... I asked to change doctors in the office and they won’t allow that ... I will go somewhere else..

Dr Powell did both of my knee replacements and did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend him. I have never had a problem communicating with him but I do have a bubbly personality so I do get along with everyone. As with any doctor you need to ask questions when you do not understand what they are telling you. I would give him 5 out of 5 stars.

Sorry to read a few of these reviews. After years of dealing with Dr. Powell, I read him to be quiet, and reserved but never unprofessional. He has always correctly diagnosed my family's problems. Sometimes it meant we had to go to therapy. Sometimes it meant we needed surgery. He referred my daughter to another surgeon who performed a very specific surgery that you only want the best to do. I appreciated his honesty. My husband and I have had successful knee surgeries w him. We trust him!

I was involved in a trauma situation and was pretty much stuck with Doctor Powell. He does not communicate well and does not seem to be very caring. I wish I would have gotten a second opinion much earlier during my recovery.

Had a hip injury, needed information sent to medicare. Staff was friendly yet not very helpful, waited 3 months for the secretary to fax the documents. Had to come back to the office and fill out additional paperwork and they charged me $10 everytime. I am elderly and on a fixed income, this is very stressful and I do hope the nice people there try to do better.

I was treated like I was wasting his time. He wouldn't let me talk and never talked to me, just his nurse. He prescribed a medication without looking at other medications I was on. I walked out of there crying because I have never been dismissed by a Doctor like this before. He never even addressed the real problem.

I first met Doctor Powell about 5 minutes before my surgery in pre-op as I was admitted to the hospital via the ER the day before. I wasn't happy that I wasn't seen by him the day or morning before in my room where I could have asked more questions without feeling rushed. After visiting both his offices for post op checkups he's seemed to warm up but both he and his staff seems confused and put out that I've asked them to fill out forms sent to me by my work to explain my absences and limitaions

My first appt. was for a frozen shoulder & yesterday was for bursitis in my hip. The first time I called, I was told he had no appts for 2 weeks but when I explained my shoulder pain was unbearable, the receptionist spoke w/Dr Powell & got me right in. An X-ray , a cortisone shot & 3 wks of physical therapy did the job 4 my shoulder. This is a fantastic Dr & he is not a pill pusher. No time 4 chit chat Instead you get a thorough check up & treatment plan. Hip & shoulder pain is gone!

Extremely poor overall experience. Attitude appeared to be that I was wasting his time, and he had better things to do. Spent about 5 minutes in room. Did not ask for additional x-rays to better understand fracture. Spent very little time explaining condition. Had to drag information from him as to prognosis and what to do. Office staff was stiff and unfriendly. Charged way too much on bill for very little assistance or guidance. Never went back to see him. Completely unsatisfactory.
