Dr. John Elliott, DO

My doctor recommended Dr Elliot. I loved him. He listened to my problem. Did an ex-ray and gave my a shot in my hip. He didn't hurt me at all and made an appointment for me to come back for a follow-up.

Dr. Elliott injected gel into my knee and slammed the needle into my bones at least 5 times. He took an ultrasound before the procedure, but did NOT use US guiding during it. My health record says he did, but it is incorrect. I had 2 babies natural, but this was the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I have friends who’ve told me they love him and he used US guiding during their gel injections, and all was great. No idea what I did to tick him off, but it was horrible. Also, it didn’t help at all. I will never, ever see this man again, nor will I recommend him, as anyone could end up being that 1 patient for whom he doesn’t use US, who ends up getting tortured. Poor form, doc, poor form. Lastly, I almost follow the golden rule of “if you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all”, but this needed to be said.

Called and was never able to talk to a person after numerous days and normal working hours. Left 4 messages on different days to receive a call back. Never received a call back. Go to Chesapeake and not this office. Wish I would have seen the reviews before I went to this office in Elizabeth City, NC

Dr. Elliot is rude and condescending. I’ve called his office 3 times before anyone finally called me back. His nurse or secretary, whoever called me back is rude and doesn’t know her stuff at all. My question wasn’t answered the first call, she called back 28 hours later just to tell me that there’s nothing he can do for me and to wait until my MRI and follow up, in two weeks! This doctor is absolutely the worst!

Truly a great and understanding doctor. Found the problem and lead me on the right path. His bedside manners, is exactly how a doctor should be.

I would never recommend him to anyone. He was rude, overbearing and condescending. I've been using Vidant and was extremely happy...but wanted a more convenient location. Well, I'll drive the distance to Vidant. This kind of treatment is totally unacceptable. He Needs To Be Taken Out Of The Business.

I would not recommend this office to anyone. Please make the drive to a Chesapeake affiliate or Vidant affiliate orthopedics . The billing office manager is the most unprofessional and non customer service person I have ever felt with. She will not return any phone call or even answer the phone. I guess she is on vacation 24/7.
