This is my first review I have ever written in my life and for good purpose. Dr. Shin preformed a surgical repair on my UCL located on my right thumb in 2019. He also preformed the same thumb surgery on a teammate of mine who tore his right thumb during the same season. Dr. Shin repaired both of our thumbs while leaving massive knots of scar tissue at the surgical site, he did not prescribe any PT for me instead just insisting on telling me I will have arthritis later in life and to rub the injury. At the time being 17 years old I trusted his world and that he knew what he was doing. The following year season I went on to tear 11 more ligaments throughout my body after Dr Shins thumb Operation. A good and confident surgeon would have removed the scar tissue rather than patching up around the scar tissue. A good surgeon is educated about the kinetic chain and lymphatic flow. Go to a doctor who understands how the body systems work together. This man’s the furthest thing from a hand surgeon.

Staff should have basic communication training
They refused to see a child with a fractured growth plate post referral due to not having the insurance number at the time of the visit, while covered by Cigna and after offering to pay out of pocket. The office staff was rude over the phone, and did not refuse service when I confirmed we do not have the insurance number yet as we are newly covered. They waited all day until we came into office to refuse to see my child after speaking with them that morning over the phone. We will not seek treatment from this office in the future and would not recommend them.

I have been to Dr Shin for both my shoulder and knee. He is very personable, knowledgeable and explains things well. I feel like he listened to me and gave me treatment options to see what I was more comfortable with. I highly recommend him!

I didn't think he was very personable either, and yes he was very condescending with me as well. I've heard a lot of contradictory statements made from him, since visit also. I wouldn't return to him either. Although his staff was friendly enough.

He is horrible, would not give me a MRI, made me go through shots, ect. then told me he could not help me. Sent me to Rush in Chicago they asked for my MRI, which Shin would not ok. They did the MRI and found the problem.

Dr. Shin was very helpful in answering all my questions and letting me know exactly what was going to be done during surgery. He called the next day to make sure everything was going will after surgery. When I went for my first visit after surgery I was very pleased with how he answered any guestions I had . I’ve had surgery on my knee with a different Dr. And didnt have the care that Dr. Shin and his staff provide.

Dr Shin is a wonderful physician. I have had both shoulders and a knee worked on by Dr Shin, and his approach to medicine is superb. He is kind and listens to his patients, and I personally feel as if he respects his patient opinions, and makes them just as much a part of their process and recovery as he is.

Absolutely horrible experience. Dr. Shin was rude, condescending, and dismissive. Took no time to listen and constantly talked over me. I literally had to yell over him to try to explain the problem. He could not get out of the room fast enough. We were treated like we were wasting his time. Would definitely not recommend.

At first he seemed nice. He did nothing for me. Hands down the worse experience I have ever had with a doctor. Cost me 250 dollars cash for 5 minutes of him just talking. He did not ask if I had any questions and was extremely rude. I hope I don't see him in public one day. Also I have a client who just had ankle surgery and told me it was a very bad experience with him as well. I respect doctor's at what they do but not this one.

Dr. Shin is hands down the finest physician. His staff and nurses are the most competent. And they excell at listening and following through. I recently had a knee scope surgery and the professionalism and thoroughness of my aftercare has made all the difference!

Went to see him with a knee injury. He was by far the most informative doctor I've ever seen. Ended every diagnostic with, "now what questions do you have for me?"

We first went to Dr. Shin for my sons broken arm, after it had not been set properly by the first doctor we visited. Dr. Shin explained what had to be done to correct it, scheduled him for surgery and was done by the end of the week. He took the time to call us the next day, Saturday, to make sure my son was doing well. He is a great doctor.
