Thank God he directed me to Dr. Caruso. He knows where to cut and when, but more importantly when NOT to cut I was living in constant pain. After seeing neurosurgeons at John Hopkins, Sinai and Mercy that wanted to literally carve my arthritic back into pieces, Dr. Caruso GENTLY put my back back together and relieved my pain. Gerald Frey has provided follow up care and encouragement.

I’ve only met with him once so far due to my son being diagnosed with a brain tumor which was on Friday and he put together a team of doctors and actually called me Saturday morning and my son has an appointment Tuesday in Morgantown with a specialist dealing with Neurofibromatosis. What doctor do you know contacts you on Saturday to do anything he is truly an angel !

I had to have surgery on my L4 and L5. Had the surgery and the morning after I couldn’t move no feeling from my back down, had no control over body functions and told it was normal. Had another MRI and was told that the surgery never worked and he he had to go back in. Five days after first surgery went in and done the same surgery. He never gave me pain meds after the surgery and told me I wouldn’t need them. The morning after my surgery I was rushed to Morgantown for no control. Had a MRI there and the new surgeon said that the surgery was not needed a second time it should’ve been done the first time. Now a year later and expecting another surgery to have plates and rods put in and will not ever let him touch me.

He is the best. I was in unbearable pain for 3 months and strung along with no help from other doctors in Hagerstown. I was finally referred to Dr. Caruso and he worked me into his full schedule and operated on me late in the day. I am now pain free and back to a normal life. Thank you Dr. Caruso.

Do yourself a favor and do NOT use this surgeon. His PA does all the office visits and it's a bother to the surgeon to see patients unless he's collecting money for an arranged surgery. He's dishonest and refuses to do any follow-up paperwork you may need. He performs only partial surgeries then later tells you that you need another surgery. He's a scam artist!

I was diagnosed with meningioma and scared. I was introduced to Dr Caruso. As I shook his hand and he smiled I felt a sincerity and confidence that I will be ok and don’t be frightened. I had a long list of questions which he took his time to answer and made sure I understood what the procedure would entail. His warmth and patience made me feel I would be doing the right thing. If it wasn’t for him and the feeling of confidence and knowledge to do this surgery I wouldn't be here to write this.

First seen by Dr Caruso in 2009 for a herniated disc in my neck, my only option was surgery due to the severity of it, post ACDF surgery I had immediate relief, minimal pain and no infection, I was very pleased. I returned to him following a fall in 2012 which I needed to have a vertebroplasty of my lower back disc, he had the unpleasant job of having to tell me that a biopsy came back with cancer near the site, but he was so caring and got the treatment plan moving fast. EXCEPTIONAL/CARING Dr!
