Dr. Jeffrey Burkey, MD

He was so thorough and went back through my files to 2009 checking for related issues. He sent me for blood work that should have been done over a year ago. I finally feel my health problem will be taken care of and he will stay on top of the bloodwork that is needed. Thank you so much.

My son and I have been patients of Dr. Burkey for over a decade. He is a wonderful Primary Care Physician. He is not an expert in psychiatric medicine and referred us to a wonderful doctor when my son was diagnosed with ADHD. I recently had a pinched nerve in my neck, was in excruciating pain, and went to Urgent Care where I was prescribed ibuprofen. I had to beg for a muscle relaxer. After 3 days, I was able to get into Dr. Burkey. He ordered x-rays of my neck, which showed deterioration of my upper spine. He prescribed a complete different regimen and medication, which included physical therapy, in lieu of surgery. After one day, I felt so much better! I continued with Physical therapy for 6 weeks, and am good as new! Thank you, Dr. Burkey! A doctor who truly cares about his patients!

I made an appointment to start medication for severe depression. Obviously I was emotional during the discussion. I was asked "so does this... crying for no reason happen often?" And given monotone, scripted responses to expressions of suicidal ideation. I was also told about another patient who had cancer and was always happy, so i should try to look at things more positively. I was not counseled well on medication choices and had dosages and medications changed frequently and with little help to determine if/how they should have worked. I ended up on a dangerously high dose of a medication that made a more recent doctor concerned for my heart health and she immediately decreased my dose. I would advise anyone seeking a patient physician with a good bedside manner to avoid Dr. Burkey, especially young women. I feel i and my mental health were not taken seriously.

Dr. Burkey does not understand ADHD. He referred to a missed appointment as “lack of responsibility” - which was very hurtful, as this is a symptom of my condition. As a person who effectively juggles many facets of life DESPITE my ADHD and with a huge expenditure of effort on my part, this was a gut punch coming from someone who is supposed to be helping me. I am many things, but thanks to a large amount of cognitive reframing of my condition, at least I know now that irresponsible is not one of them.

He is compassionate and caring. I would not hesitate to recommend to friends or family.

Excellent physician who spends quality time with his patients to establish professional relationships and deliver accurate diagnostic and follow up care. He has excellent bedside manner that shows he cares about his patients and is very compassionate and caring. He is very knowledgeable and makes sure his care is above what is expected.

I have been seeing Dr. Burkey for at least 15 yrs. He gets to the root of the problem. He is professional, personable, friendly, and knowable. He doesn't always tell me what I want to hear. He listens to me and takes into consideration the information I provide to best diagnose my medical condition. Before joining Cleveland Clinic in Wooster it was much easier getting appointments. The scheduling issues are because of CC. Using mychart helps if you have an issue that needs addressed immediately

He is very passionate about his role as a MD. He is caring and understanding as well as patient. When I have an appointment with Dr. Burkey I know he is going to do his best to find out what my needs are and then use his knowledge and experiences he has obtained as a MD to make sure I get the best possible care available. He is professional and personable at the same time. I couldn't ask for a better doctor.

He is too into himself to listen to what you have to say. I might as well be talkingmto a wall. Very arrogant.

He will list you as his patient and be your primary care doctor however you can't get a appointment with him for months. Not to mention he will change your medicine 500 times no not a narcotic regular medicine that you've been on for 10 years for depression. Terrible doctor would not recommend!!!!
